Canadian people>! trading your 02 wrx how much $

Is anyone else getting this? I only hear it if I feather the breaks - on regular to hard breaking the breaks are silent (and awesome). However, in an effort to create less work for myself (i.e. less break dust) over the past few days I've been feathering them and I get some squeal. Normal?

i was going to post this thread last week but forgot. my squeal (which is *amazingly* loud) only occurs when lightly apply brakes as i'm rolling backwards; i.e. rolling down my driveway in the morning or if i'm stopped in traffic on a hill. i've had no squeals going forward regardless of applied pressure.

None yet. I use light pressure backing up in the driveway or at work. Going forward I don't use light pressure.

BTW I called for a price quote on the pads $387 for the front set. My dealer did not have a price on the rears. I do hope this is at least for both wheels.

I get the same exact squeal you do lars. It seems like just when they are barely touching the rotor they start to scream but them once you push the brake harder they stop. Is there a better way to fix it then forking over $400?

I've used Brembo's for years in competition. The brake squeel is a biproduct of the muti-piston design. On track durring racong conditions they are silent. But stand in any pit lane on any race track and listen as the car nears it's pit box and you will hear a very familair sound.

Yea....I have seen some warnings about this from the brake kit manufacturers.....they say that if you go with the bigger brake kits with more race-style pads you pretty much have to deal with the squeeking....its just the way it is on high-performance brakes like this. Although I wonder if the other big boys' brakes squeel? Viper? Corvette? NSX? Seems like they should if what I have read is correct. Anybody know?

I'll add myself to the list of people of experiencing this. It is just when braking lightly as others have said. I imagine that we will have to put up with it, as well as the brake dust. :-?

On Super 2nr TV they tested a Maserati spyder and this car also had a slight brake squeal when they came to a complete stop. It only seemed to happen when they were at slow speeds and slight pressure. I would assume that since the car is pretty much built by Ferrari then the brakes would be very similar to Brembos.

I am also hearing a very slight squeal when applying the brakes very lightly. I heard it for the first time today after 500 miles. Strange I never heard it until I installed the stereo... :p

I could hear every rock and sqeak but never brake squeal. Oh well the excellent stopping more than makes up for the occasional squeal IMO.

STi in Montreal!!

I've had a number of different brakes on my GSR, and all the non-OEM ones squeaked...chalk it up to more stopping power...

I've always gone with 3rd party brake pads (Performance Friction, KVR, EBC, etc,etc...) and they've done well for me on my GSR no rotor's being eaten (had my rotors for 150k miles, with some track time)

$400 bucks sounds a little high for brake pads, but I'm sure we could find other brake pads that would have the same amount of stopping power and dust less than the brembo stock pads.

I've driven a 350Z touring ed (non brembo), a Corvette Z06, 2000 Camaro SS and a 2002 M3. None of their breaks squealed. Maybe it's a byproduct of an aftermarket brake company since most people who purchase brembos or other performance brakes will not be too concerned with the noise.
