Brand New to the Subaru Family

Hey as stated, I just picked up an automatic (which kills me) 2004 WRX with new motor, rebuilt transmission, new suspension, brakes, pads, rotors and calipers. It also just got a brand new STI turbo and intake. To be completely honest before this I owned a 1997 Subaru Legacy Wagon and had absolutely no idea about cars, until I talked to this one guy about the potential that this 2004 WRX has. I've really been thinking about a car to pick up as a project car and I'm thinking this one is perfect for that. This will be a great idea for me to start learning about subarus and become a true enthusiast. I attached a file to this to show the 2004 and as I do not know much about forums at all, I'll try and post a thread with a picture of my old '97 for kicks and giggles, it was a shitbucket to say the least.
I am basically just looking for any tips and tricks to help with making this baby into a beast. I love power, and speed. Nothings better than stepping on that peddle and making her purr.
I am female, and brand new to this business, but know much more than you probably assume. I am just looking for some kind people to help a girl out. As the saying goes if you don't have nothing nice to say don't say it at all. I've already dealt with a ton of asses that don't think I should have anything to do with this car. Thanks.

First question, can I change her into a standard?
Welcome to the forum! Nice car, and I'm assuming you are a rider too based on the motorcycle in the pic?

Lots of GREAT info here, you should be able to find everything you are looking for. Not familiar with Automatic WRX's, I'm sure it is possible to convert to a manual gearbox, not sure how much work would be involved however. a lot of the manual WRX guys upgrade to STI 6-speed transmissions, so if you are converting to Manual you might want to consider this upgrade right away while you are swapping transmissions.

Welcome!

I'm not sure about swapping the transmission, but I don't see why not. I know some have swapped the STI 6MT in for a WRX 5MT, so i would imagine you could swap out the auto...

EDIT: ^beat me to it...

Thanks! I'm glad to be apart of the community. Also, no I am not a rider, i would love to be though, a bike will definitely be my next investment. I figured it was possible I was just hoping to run into someone who had actually done it before. I would love to be able to do it without breaking my bank account, and do it on my own. I know a garage and I usually do all my own work anyway, but I assume I'd need a professional to do it?

Really depends on how handy you are. For example, I have done all kinds of work on my last car and my STI as well, including a turbo kit on my last car (installed it all myself, then removed it before selling), custom sound system in both old car and STI, as well as retrofit headlights for my old car, my STI, and my motorcycle. And then some lol. However, transmission work is often a bigger job which requires some special tools and can sometimes be a pain, I leave that to the pros mostly. But, if you are able to afford downtime with the subie, and find an STI transmission that is a confirmed fit, I'm sure you could figure it out if you took your time and did it step-by-step. A lift would be reallly handy for that job though.

It can be switched to a manual transmission, but you won't be able to drive the car for awhile. If you do want to switch to a manual transmission it would probably be a job to hand over to the pros because you would need tools like a transmission jack to make things easier/safer and a lift would be very beneficial and make the job a lot easier. I'm assuming that you would also need to fab some parts/brackets and such. One other thing to consider is if you really want the STi 6 speed transmission or if you would prefer the more DD friendly gearing of the WRX 5 speed transmission. If you have any other questions I advise you to research them to avoid bringing in any 'asses'. A quick google search will bring up a lot of information and provide plenty of reading material that will teach you a lot.

Lol

Those god damn ex's

No worries, doubt you offended anyone!! I think 'El guapo' was more implying asses on the forum come in and tell you to use the search for your question, but don't worry about it, your question was specific enough to your car/situation to ask in your thread, no harm done!!
