Welcome and great stable. Post up images of all of them for us to drool over.
Thanks for the welcome. My STI was in the back lot all covered in white plastic and I told them not to touch it and I have been peeling it off myself. I didn't want anyone to touch the car. It has 18 miles on it now and I'm just in love with this car.Welcome and great stable. Post up images of all of them for us to drool over.
well that's awfully pessimistic...Save your money now for a new motor.
with the cars he has in his garage, I don`t think saving money will be an issue.Save your money now for a new motor.
They are all great but now when it rains I will have better control of the car. My DD was a 08 ZO6 I bought new in Feb. 08. It was very fast but all over the place in the rain if driven a little hard. Here is a picture of my old DD. Thanks everyone for the welcome! What is the most fun to drive out of the stable?
LOL, its my loaded 6 speed (40k miles ) and I like it very much. In a few years I will replace it with a 2013 427 convertible but I cant get rid of it now as it's a great car and I'm attached to it.whats the deal with the ugly C5 in the the stable when you had that sweet looking black C6 ZO6??????
I am up in arms about this
And not every STi owner is a member on this forum or on Nasioc. I am sure aside from the numerous STi owners on this forum who have suffered the dreaded cracked piston ring land there are many more that are not on the forums.just because you had issues doesn't mean you have to inflict painful posts upon every member who bought a new STI. From other threads, your issues seem to be quite the exception.
1) it's a brand new car, with warranty. Even IF he has a ringland failure, and not enough coin to build his own block, he can take it to Subaru and have them fix it under warrantyAnd not every STi owner is a member on this forum or on Nasioc. Why is it "inflicting painful posts" by simply telling the new STi owner the very realistic probablility that the STi's pistons are unreliable and prone to breaking? Is it not cheaper to drop forged pistons in a motor that has not blown up yet versus one that has already grenaded?
1.) My STi was purchased brand new as well. Subaru did not fix it under warranty.1) it's a brand new car, with warranty. Even IF he has a ringland failure, and not enough coin to build his own block, he can take it to Subaru and have them fix it under warranty
2)I just feel that the negativity is not needed here.
I think you're a cool guy and all, but to come into a thread of someone who is happy, proud of his new purchase, and rain on the parade by basically telling him 'the engine in your $40k+ car is shit, so save some money bub' is not exactly the coolest thing to do. It's like telling him he bought some shit, and I don't know about you, but when I work hard to buy something and someone tells me that what I just bought is crap, well, It doesn't really make me feel very good.
I have a LARGE group of friends with subarus, hell I went to a meet two weeks ago wit 200+ STI's, and not one talk of ringland issues from ANY of the STI's I checked out. All the 2008-2014's varied in mileage too. A pretty decent sample size.
Well I am guessing that they all were running since they showed up at this meet so I doubt very many if any would be talking about piston ring lands. The other problem is how many STi's are made from 08-14? Lets go with a conservative 42,000 so if we go with approximately 200 that is less than 1% that is a such a small sample size as to be worthless statistically.I have a LARGE group of friends with subarus, hell I went to a meet two weeks ago wit 200+ STI's, and not one talk of ringland issues from ANY of the STI's I checked out.
