The factory max boost for the sti is set to 14.5 versus 13.5 on the wrx according to subaru. Should mean we can crank up the boost and get alot more power out of this bad boy.

I didn't know that Subaru had released that info yet. Last rumor I heard was that the boost was going to be around 17 psi in the STi. There has been talk that the 19 (?) psi boost on the EVO may be contributing to engine knock (when 91 octane gas is used). I will have to experience the stock setup for a while (and wait for the warranty to expire) before making any decisions on bumping the boost at all. I wouldn't speculate at all on increasing boost until we can at least drive the thing.

Nope, max WRX boost is 13.5.

Now think about that.......

13.5 psi - 227 hp
14.5 psi - 300 hp

Look at the power we are getting just out of that new engine. It would be nice to see what the comp ratio for the STi is to see just how much more we can push into the STi.

Ratio on the sti is 8.2:1

I am a wealth of info lol

Let's just put it this way:

My friends RS-T imploded running 21 Pounds of boost on pump gas with the stock ~ 11:1 compression pistons.

However, I have another friend that has a semi-closed deck 2.5L, basically the same engine as the STi (not stock or factory built of course) and he is running 22 Pounds no problem, and he has ran up to 30 without his engine imploding. I think he has like a 9:1 ratio.

This engine we are getting folks is ready for BIG and I mean BIG power. I would suspect 425-450HP would be possible with stock internals and some careful engine management... :D

I am going to have to learn to handle 300 first though... ;)

Re: to wet your taste buds. STi 1/4 mile run :)

i think that your boost numbers are messed up because if the wrx is running between 13.5 and 14lbs of boost at 227hp which is correct, and the evo is running 19lbs of boost at 271hp then the STi has to be running over 20lbs if it has 300hp

I think you guys are paying way too much attention to boost pressure. Remember that the turbo sizing is crucial to the equation. I can make 225 or 300 HP at the same boost pressure on the same motor just changing the turbo sizing and retuning. I'll be running some dyno tests on the Sti tuesday to see what boost pressure is at and at what RPM. We'll find out tomorrow.

CALLING NEW STI OWNERS ALBANY NY

One thing you all over looked:

STi - 2.5l engine
WRX - 2.0l engine
Evo - 2.0l engine

If the Evo can push 275hp with 19psi, I'm almost positive a WRX could do the same. Now imagine an STi with that much boost, can you say V8 killer? Granted those cars will have top end, we can shoot arounds corners faster then they can watch us fly around them.

Theres this guy on clubwrx.net who just got his STi and is now running 16+ psi and is making around 298whp with just a boost controler, downpipe and intake. I remembered that he had his boost all the way up to 17+psi once but he said something about the ecu retarding the time or something like that.
