I am looking for a cheap upgrade to start with. This will be my first car mod ever. Will I have to do anything special with the ECU if I get one? And is $298 a good price? That is the cheapest I have found so far.... any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. Maybe there is a part with a better cost/power-gain ratio? After this I plan on saving up the money for the exhaust stuff.

Sorry about the sporadic nature of this post.

Godspeed has them for $250. Quantum Racing has them for $240. I know Dan [godspeedinc.com] is running one. My only concern is it's ability to filter. I am not saying that it doesn't have the ability to filter, I just don't know how well it filters. In this neck of the woods it is rather dusty and I would just like to make sure the engine is getting properly filtered. I have had good luck with K&N filters. I found the Hyperflow/Vivid Racing Intake:
which don't look as hip as the beautiful silver of the SUS, should do the trick and is about $100 less. I was thinking was the saving I could also get a Samco Intake Pipe.

But I can't answer to whether this is the best (type) of upgrade for the morning. Nor can I say the SUS is better or not as good as the Hyperflow.

I don't see a place to connect the MAF sensor on the blitz intake. I just thought the install required me to remove the air box and then plug the blitz onto the pipe. Will I have to by extra "plumbing" or something? I tried checking scoobymods and scoobytuner for info but came up empty handed.

Take a look at these... If I am not mistaken this is Dan's (godspeed) STi and it looks like there is a mounting location for the MAS right on the "shaft" of the SUS. It also looks like the stock pipe was used. So, I am guessing he pulled out the air box and the snorkel.

I have this on my STi too and I love it. It gives a loud sucking and blow off sound too. The install is very easy. All you need to do is remove the stock air box and replace it with the blitz intake and install the MAFS and the brace and thats it. You can remove the snorkle if you want but I left it in so that it could get cold air. Its real easy and great for your first mod.

I just put on an Airinx. definitely more BOV and spool up sound. The invidia down pipe goes in tomorrow. Boost controller is TBD until I get some more cash from my side consulting.

CloNeGTS thanks. I really do like the look and if they do as good (or better) job filtering and letting the engine breath I will slap one of these on.

On the two sites you posted, the pics of the Blitz filter just show the top part. It doesn't show the metal collar where the MAF sensor plugs into. I am correct in assuming that this comes with it as well?

i just got in a blitz SUS intake and a blitz dual drive blow off valve

there is loud loud loud annoying whine above 3.5k rpm
is my blow off valve leaking? or is it the turbo
i got the sucking sound, but i dunno why there is that loud loud whine
and my engine smells like something's smoking :(

To check the BOV for leaks, just start car and have someone hold the engine at high steady RPM. See if the BOV is leaking and if so, tighten the tension by loosening the 10mm nut and tightening the tension with an allen key. THen retighten the nut and test.
