there is a black one available for me right NOW if I want it. I could go pick it up this minute... but I want silver
I mean I REALLY want silver. the black is nice and all, but I don't know if I'd be happy with it in the long run.

I've been calling like a madman, and these things are really hard to come by at the moment. I'd like to think I could just wait till a silver one comes along, but that seems less and less likely everyday

If you want silver but go with black I think you will be sorry down the road because compared to silver, black is a MAJOR pain to maintaine and I am not just talking about keeping it clean.

My dealer just called me to say silver and blue are available right now, and I want black!!

I am trying to convince myself to like silver/blue (they ARE both nice, right?) If not, I think the smart thing to do is wait and get the color you really want, to avoid later regrets. (Of course, I already drive a black WRX, so waiting for me isn't that bad... :-? )

Maybe we can work out some trade for the colors, eh?

I'm not getting the black one, so forget I mentioned it. even if I wanted to, stupid m*****f*****s... turns out they decided to raise the price like everyone else at the last minute and go with a $5K markup

I've been calling everywhere and it sounds like they've all banded together and decided to stick with 5K

rediculous.
we all need to do something about this, band together and refuse to pay it. something. and if anyone knows of dealerships selling for less, let us all know so they can get our business. once they up the price, f*** em. maybe we need to start a black list... and a white list for that matter too

Yeah my dealer told me there were $5000 markups all around. Luckily, I already made an agreement with my dealer that she would not charge me over MRSP, and she said she would honor the agreement. She did say, however, that if I wanted to trade colors with another dealer, likely I would end up paying the mark-up already imposed by the other dealer.

my dealership called and told me they a 6k mark up.... so i told them to f*** themselfs.... anyway i checked around and found a black one that was SUPPOST to get here on tuesday.... but then soa called them and told them that they wouldnt even get the info about IF (not when) they would get the car untill the 10th.... so i called around again... and i found a white/gold one but i cant decide if i like the white one or not.... (white is kinda old man'ish isnt it?) though i figgured cops will notice a black car before they notice a white car..... so mabey i will get it?

does white get as dirty as black?

if you drive them simultaneously through the same mud puddle, they'll get equally dirty. but to address the spirit of your question ("does white show dirt as black"), i think that depending on the dirt, white is a little more forgiving, believe it or not. for everyday dust and dirt, you can't really tell the white car is dirty until you wipe it and see the difference; after all, there are lots of off-white cars. however, this might be more perceptable on at black car since there aren't a lot of hazy grayish-black cars.

my unsolicited 2cents on picking a color: if you're vascilating between two options for as long as i was (blue vs white), that tells you you'd be happy with both...er...i mean either. what pushed me to white is that it was easier, in my opinion, to keep looking good. (though white, at it's best, can't touch a well-detailed black or blue.) your criteria may be different. white is theoretically cooler (temp-wise); this may be an issue for you, being an the south. <shrug>

anyway, my advice is to call around your state and to neighboring states. i'll bet you'll find an available sti at msrp, assuming you can decide on a color. the shipping cost or the one-way car rental is much less than $6k. and btw, if you do find one, be sure to give your dealer one last chance. they may cave and save you the trip. best of luck.

That is not the problem, black paint shows swirls and scratches more than any other color out there. Yeah it shows dirt, which makes people wash it more, which just trashes the paint more. The finish is hard to maintain not keep clean. Wait till about 20k or 30k miles and see how it looks and keeping it clean at that point wont matter.

my first choice was silver, then black , the black was ordered first ,and was not sure how i felt, it showed up and side by side,black and silver I'm glad i ended up with the black, I have a silver s-2000 and the car looks great, but two silver cars??? anyway, I'm real happy with the black,I keep my vehicles clean anyway, :wink: :wink:

truth be known.... when i saw pics of your car i decided to get the white/gold.... if i can find it that is.... prob is now i feel like a complete moron because i let a white/gold go because i wasent willing to put a non refundable $1000 deposit on a car i had never seen before.... and then i found another and it had been sold 10 min before i called! sucks huh.... anyway i am still looking for a white sti at MSRP if anyone knows where one is could you PLEASE tell me please!!!
