Ok, I just wanted to throw out this warning to everyone considering buying some of their products on Ebay. I know that many of you have purchased their TMIC (as it was recommended to me on this and the IWSTI forums), and have had some success with it. Well, I decided to give it a try, $145 for a larger core (compared with the stock STI TMIC) isn't too bad right? The lure of a cheap mod that may give you a few more hp's and prevent heat soak got me!

I ordered their TMIC and y-pipe. The 1st shipment I got looked like this:

The item was put in a just-barely-bigger single wall cardboard box with 1 layer of bubblewrap over the top of the intercooler fins. Nothing to protect the sides. Fine, I figure this is a one-off damaged item, email them back, and they arrange for me to try to claim insurance for improperly handled item thru FedEx. Well, FedEx denied the claim, saying, of course, item was poorly packaged. I return said item, and they tell me I'm can either get refund or ship me another. I chose another, and get the 2nd item looking like this:

Not 'too' bad, but again notice the right hand side pushed in, and that last column of fins crushed. What you can't see in the pics are that, while the endtanks are polished and appear 'ok', there were quite a number of fins that didn't even reach the bottom of the end tanks, and many of them were bent. Definitely not an item I would want to put on my car...

After about 10 emails, all from me, I finally tell them I want my $$ back, and after a threat that I report them to BBB and on the forums, they refund me an amount $50 short . I explained to them that I shouldn't have to pay for any of this, as both times the items were shipped to me improperly packaged. FWIW, the Y-pipe I received was of very poor quality--the inside was about as smoothe as a acne-laiden adolescent, and actually had a big blob of aluminum chunk in the piping. I would hate to see what would happen if that piece broke off and went downstream.

So anyhow, I am just writing to everyone to say caveat emptor or buyer beware. If you buy from them and get shipped a non-damaged intercooler, great. If not, be prepared to put up with a hassle if you are wanting a refund, and don't expect to get all of your money back...

On a good note (rofl), at least it looks like your ports somewhat lined up. As posted in my EBay AutoDynasty thread, mine were whacked ...

The fins you mentioned ...

After about a month of working with them, I got 99% of my money back. I agree on the packaging though. One of the mounting tabs was sticking through the box when I received it. I was surprised mine wasn't crushed like yours.

Man, how'd you get that much of your money back? They are shorting me $50, and I've already got an email to them about this, but no reply so far. Seems like these parts are the quintessential 'made by a sweatshop worker in the heart of Cambodia' type part--really really questionable quality!

kinda off topic, but i ordered a set of replica strut bars from them. they said it shipped on aug. 28. i still haven't received it yet. did it take that long for you guys to receive parts from them?

btw, wolf's original posts were a big reason i decided on a spearco tmic instead.

Hmmm...it's been 2 weeks, if I were you, I'd shoot them an email...many emails to make sure they get the point. They use FedEx as their carrier, and that seems a bit long.

Ok, 99% of people (maybe even 100%) that I've seen buy this TMIC have a side that is dented in that the company claims happened during shipping.
Coincidence? I think not.

hmm...I've seen some folks on here who bought this very unit, and didn't complain about the dent. Regardless, the dent, assuming it's not major enough and you can line up with the stock bracket, is the least of my concerns. My concern would be with the ass-hatted workmanship, the blobs of aluminum splash and debris left in the TMIC, and the fins that don't even run the length of the space...

The one I got was double-boxed. The box you have was in another, larger box that was equally poorly packed and had the y-pipe, BOV, and other items in it (loose). Still, the actual core arrived undamaged.

My y-pipe bolt holes didn't line up exactly and I had the dent on the side. I think the dent is intended to facilitate mounting. I oversize drilled the y-pipe (OEM) ported the inputs and output, painted the STi logo on it and haven't had a bit of problem. Before I got retuned, I could feel more power as well. Now that I am retuned, I feel a HUGE difference! I love my AD TMIC and I consider myself a pretty anal bastage on a budget.

I'm glad you guys got things to work out. As I've said, my TMIC came in 1 box, which was just barely bigger than the item itself. And this happened again on my 2nd TMIC. I usually don't want to come to a foregone conclusion on the customer service or integrity of a company, but judging by what happened to me, the fact that they kept jerking me around on email, I know I would never ever buy anything from these bastards again. And this is not even speaking about the quality of the component itself--which as I've said before, looked like it was made by a Congalese cripple using basic hand tools (and packaged by him too)...

I guess the old saying of "what you paid is what you get" really stands out here!

Cheap price = Cheap product!!!

Now I know if I want a new TMIC, I'll spend some more $$ and go for quality!

Hope eveything works out for you guys!

Mine came in a box no bigger than the item with cursory bubble wrap around it-pretty rough. I could tell they had sold it to someone before because it was scratch on the side facing the firewall. I buffed it, polished, and otherwise worked over the rough spots and inspected it very thoroughly. Spending a little time with the piece and paying $185 versus $900 or more is worth it to me.
