In the Feb issue of Motor Trend it estimates the new Evo 0-60 time to be 4.9sec....that's with the measly 271hp. I'll bet the STI will be in the 4.7 range. Anyone hear about options for the car?

evo 8

Lot's are bashing the Evo VIII and I respect that but people might be surprised. Evo VIII is supposed to be lighter and consider that 100lb worth about .1 second in real life. If the Subaru is 250lb-300lb heavier, performance will be almost exactly the same since the 300HP vs lb vs Evo VIII 271HP vs lb will be similar... Let's wait to see the weight of the car. Personnally, either 300HP or 271HP I would never go with a Evo VIII (anyway, won't be avalaible here in Canada) but as said, I have some background and consider that if the weight is 250-300lb more than the Evo VIII, performance will be almost the same.

New member/Any group buy similar to SD here in North Cali?

How can there be a recall if no one has bought one yet?
Didn't quite understand that one either, but my guess is not customer recall, but possibly dealer recall where the stock of Evos need to be serviced before being sold?!

You're right..it IS Mitsu

Im betting that the evo will run a quiker 0-60 due to only having to hit 1st and 2nd and making peak torque at only 3500RPM.(ahhh,twin scroll). But the STI will pull a better 1/4 mile due to the increase in power and the six speed.

I spoke to some of the Subaru people around the car and unfortunately they could not tell me the weight. One of them did say that the 0-60mph times were 4.7s and he said that was conservative. Although I'm not sure how technical these people really are. I think they were mostly marketing droids, but it still sounds great to me!

I think all the 0-60 times are really speculation (especially when it's given by a droid) :) and I hope R&T or C&D will do some testings and show how they've managed the 0-60. If it's dumping the clutch at 7000RPM, it's not really a good test...

The people talking about the STi in Detroit said the the 0-60 is 4.7 and quarter mile is 13.5 I am assuming these may be estimates but I'm sure are close and may even be understatements. Especially comparing it to what they say the WRX would do and what various car magazines and others are able to make it run at. :D

If its 4.7 and 13.5 1/4 then I am super happy. I'm sure the Evo and STi will be close to these times considering the specs on them.

These are M3 and Vette times. Not the Z06. (gathered from Motor Trend so not necessarily 100% accurate, but still great news).

The STI was shown in the auto show here in Salt Lake this weekend, and the chick with the microphones said that "Road and Track tested this car 2 weeks ago and did 0-60mph in 4.4 seconds. Subaru is most likely going to release a conservative spec of 4.7 seconds."
