Attention gtworx bilstein buyers who are installing now or later...

We take a lot of calls of people asking questions that are in the instructions. We get a LOT of guys calling us who snapped the top of the shock off with a Ingersoll Rand 1500 ft lb impact gun yet who have NEVER even touched a screw driver.

below is a link to the instructions for GR and GH installation( LGT also). Please reference it and or give it to your technician who MOST seem to think " I got this, and I dont need any stinking instructions" ! Yet dont line up the top mounts and then the customer has noises etc.

So for what ever its worth.........

I'm only putting this up because 19 out of 20 calls result in " no I didnt read the instructions".

Good thing my Earthquake 1/2" is only rated for 700 ft/lbs. Shouldn't be a problem.
Thank you. I am patiently awaiting my package...
im waiting for my factory units to die so i can pull the trigger on the bilsteins. currently on the yellows and they are awesome. btw, does the JDM S206 use this same combo?

No those are SUPER soft in comparison.

I'd never be able to run a business if it meant I had to man the phones....
I'm feeling pretty good about myself. I read the instructions before install and didn't have to call. Still loving them.

I'm amazed Myles that you are as helpful as you are if you are fielding that many annoying calls in between real calls. You are a better man than I.
thanks but let me say ...I hope my "tone" wasnt one of someone who is annoyed. Not at all. Its the massive disappointment when I tell the person who shredded the top of the shock that they are sold in PAIRS.....then they proceed to give ME an attitude.

I wish you luck Myles. Its a tough business you are in.

Kudos for even having decent instructions. Many suppliers don't even include more than a tiny sheet written in another language. I know you can't make detailed instructions for every car out there but I think a lot of tips, tricks and lessons learned should be included with new parts. I know that in the custom world you may find parts from various vendors that don't work together, but any knowledge you can send along really helps.

I design industrial machinery and I should have RTFM (Read the F'n Manual) tattoo'd on my chest. I enjoy talking to customers but it gets old when you spend time on a detailed manual and nobody reads it.

It gets worse in this modern world. You have built up an excellent reputation as a vendor. I read a lot of positive reviews and comments about your service, knowledge and advice. All it takes though is one guy who doesn't understand something to mess up a part or install and blame you. They can then come here and trash you. Even if you are right and can resolve the issue the damage is done and the words are out there for anyone to find with a simple google search. You are very exposed. I give you a lot of credit.

Ouch, that's an expensive mistake. Read. Read again. Look at how everything is installed. Read one more time. Find a video on You Tube if necessary. Throw it together. Compare and double/triple check and then torque everything down. Say a small prayer. Enjoy. Its worked for me so far....

It is true. Some have it, some don't.
Every time I read the instructions I get burned. If i ignore them entirely everything works out ok. They are pretty universally wrong. I recently changed the clutch and shaft seals on my ranger. FSM said 9 bolts holding the trans on. Well, there were actually 10. If I didnt know how many were on there I would have spent more time looking for another bolt when the trans did not successfully part from the engine. Believing the manual was right I yanked on that thing for an hour thinking it was hanging on the alignment dowels before I got my head on straight and found the 10th bolt hiding on top of the transmission.

Instructions almost always equal more work for me, if for no other reason than the time wasted reading them

EDIT: NOT ADVOCATING NOT READING THE INSTRUCTIONS!! Dont ruin your $1000 struts because you didnt know how to install them properly ;)
