They put 87 in my car. About 50 miles into the tank I put a bottle of "The Outlaw" octane booster and topped it off with 93. I've been good about staying out of boost, maybe only once or twice I actually boosted a little. I plan on documenting it with the Sales Manager when he returns from his vacation. My question is, is there anything else I should do until I run through this tank? I have contemplated another bottle of octane booster but I didn't want to go nuts with it.

Any thoughts would be appreciated... thanks.

if you're into confrontation, you could make 'em drain it on the grounds that the manual (*i think*) says nothing about 87 octane being useable. (the tank has drain plugs and is easy to drain.) too late for that though, so i'd take a 2.5hour road trip to nowhere and back just to burn through it as quickly as possible.

Re: "STi Look" gauges in Defi pod

Hey all,

According to a magizne that I read (not sure which one though, but one of the current car ones that are out) The higher the octane the slower the burn. All the additives in the gas make the fuel resist premature combustion (knock) at higher temps.

Now I'm no mechanic, but according to the article the higher octane donesn't give you better gas milage. It prevented the pre-mature detonation (KNOCK) in high performance vehicles (like the STi) that would heat up. It also made reference to you sitting at a stoplight on a hot day (90+) and when the light turns green you start to get on it, and you getting knock for a second untill the computer catches up.

Does anyone have the proper ratio of one gallon of toluene to the rest of the components needed; ie marvelous mystery oil? I also read mineral spirits too but I'm wondering if I need those.

TIA.
