I got the TurboXs $169+ s/h It works great. That one seems very similar and you should have the same positive results. --Sin52

The filter looks long (at least compared to the size of the MAF housing). Looks like it uses the stock intake hose?
Yes, guessing by the diameter of the pod...

I have ordered a Samco Intake Bend Pipe as well:

It works with the stock airbox... the filter on APS is a K&N ...

ya that and the MAF looks very close to the filter... and since K&N is oil oriented... you might have some maf gunk problems *shrug*.

CAIs don't make much sense in the STi because they're turbocharged, and it won't do any performance gains without engine management...

Oh well... Another search for an intake gone failed ... I guess I will stick to the stock airbox...

TurboXs and Perrin have a little more space between the filter and maf sensor. --Sin52

So you're saying on an STi, you need a Haltech or something, just so you can bolt-on a CAI? Funny that was the first mod I did on my Eclipse GSX and never looked back.

Sounds like you've been reading too much Super Street, or other Riceboy magazine...

You can bolt on whatever you like but once its all said and done the difference in temp is only 2 or 3 degrees at the manifold with a cai. With a short intake there is less resistance but a higher temp. At least I think that is what he was saying. --Sin52

We're having an abundance of trolls and thread hijackers lately ...

This topic on CAI vs. Short Ram has been beaten to death. Do yourself a favor and search.

I did some searches for you. Go read and figure out yourself:

I have seen actual dyno sheets, of 20+ HP being extracted from a bolt-on intake with no other mods. This was with quicker spoolup and increased torque at all RPM's.

I haven't even taken delivery of my STi yet, and I'm already ordering an intake so that I can bolt in on right away.

If you want to run your stock intake forever, don't let me dissuade you.

ya and there are dynos proving that people LOST horsepower with intakes... so what does that prove?

I noticed improvements with the turboxs shorty. I talked about switching it back and forth to make sure it was helping and not hurting in another post. It helped. --Sin52

I'm not a tuning guru or anything, but it might mean that not all intakes are created equally?
