Hey everyone!

Just came across this site today while looking for more info on the STi. I've been planning on getting a WRX next spring, and while looking at some magazine coverage earlier I stumbled across a note about the STi (which I had never heard of until that point).

So I did a little bit of research online, and after seeing what this vehicle is all about, I just HAVE to get one!

A few general questions if I may though - are dealers really taking preorders for this right now? From everything I've read online, it still hasn't been officially announced, although all signs are pointing to this being released. And if so, anyone know of any dealers in the northwestern PA/eastern OH area I should get in touch with?

Also, how soon (in general) does one need to get in a preorder on a vehicle that might now show up until the 2nd quarter of next year? How does that affect payments and such?

Anyway, sorry about the newbie questions. Now that I know about the STi though, I'll be keeping a close watch on developments so that I can, with any luck, be driving one of these babies myself come next Spring!

Welcome. This is a great place to find out any info about the STi there is and probably the first and quickest place you will hear about any official announcements from Subaru. As far as waiting lists go I think it depends on the dealer. The one I talked to basically laughed at me, but took my name and number. I check in every once in a while so they don't forget about me. As far as pre-ordering it will depend on the number of STi's that we get. I have heard anything from 500 to 1700, either way it will be limited. I personally do not want to risk not getting one, so I would pre-order one as soon as I can. This wait sux, but I will feel better once Subaru officially announces that they are bringing it here. For now all I can do is just sit and stare at the STi wallpaper I have on my PCs, watch the little STi movie clips I downloaded over and over again, and get all the foreign car mags that have articles about the STi.

i just joined the forum and I saw your question about Pittsburgh. I went to school there and unfortunately had to get my RS worked on in da' burgh. Not that there is anything wrong with Pittsburgh, but I just about wrecked my car. Anyway, I took it to Bill Gray Subaru. They are a pretty decent dealership. Not very big, but they are pretty cool there. I think it is around Mt. Washington, or maybe it's on the way up to Ross Park mall. Just go to www.subaru.com and put 15213 as the zip code in the dealer search window and you'll find Bill Gray Subaru.

A lot of dealers are already taking money, but the car has not been released, so it is up to the dealer as to whether or not they want to take a deposit right now. Personally, I don't feel like giving any money to a dealer until the car is official. Like MKIVSupra, I have my name in at a couple of dealers who are not taking any money at this point. How soon you need to preorder will likely come down to how many cars they bring over. I'm guessing it will be at the high end of any estimates we've been hearing, since it isn't practicle to spend all the money on certification to only bring a few over. The likelyhood is that they will keep bringing them, too, so if you don't get one right away, you can wait for the next batch. There are rumors of more powerfull specialty vehicles being released later that might be worth waiting for.
