I know it sounds perverse, but I won't have the money to buy it until at least late this year, more likely early next year. If it came out right now, I could probably find a way, but it would be pretty painful (high payments).

Well I won't have my Legacy paid off till October and I am also looking at buying a townhouse then, so I would rather it came out next year also. I highly doubt it will be here this year or we would have heard about it by now.

well if you can't buy one till next year who cares if it came out tomorrow? Its not like they would stop making them after a year, one would hope not. I'm still dreaming I can get one but I need a car by the end of the summer......didn;t mean to come off sounding like a dick,

im just gunna settle for a modded WRX W/ 300hp. im getting my 2003 in Nov. or so.
ANYONE that could help me troll the net and find a site about model year changes.... i want my WRX in the 2.5TS savanna green.

The woman will probably get the STi when we get married, talk about cunning, her parents will buy it for us!

JJ... im really interested in making a group meeting/rally yearly, during the summer b/c there are a LOT of students here and it would be conveinent.

reasonable question, in theory it makes plenty of sense but in reality i've noticed it hasnt really worked...???

eg. i know 2 close friends who both own version 5 and version 6 sti's. none of my other friends with decent bolt on gear in wrx's can go near them??? they are just damn quick straight out of the box!

I think alot of this has got to do with gearing! the STi with shorter gears will pull away really easy compared to the modified WRX with its longer gears...I even have an MPG to show you this. A jap spec STi versus a heavily modified WRX with standard WRX running gear.

The new age STi also has some pretty nice bits on it from standard - brembo's, front LSD, forged pistons, different gear ratios, larger bonnet scoop, larger top mount intercooler, waterspray, free flowing exhaust, remapped ecu & bigger turbo...(Oz Spec stuff - not sure about US Spec) i think the comparison has been made here in Oz already and the argument for the STi is very strong. To put the same bits on a WRX would cost the same if not slightly dearer than buying an STi from stock.

I should say it would seem to cost more, especially if you can't do it all yourself.

If the car comes out early what could be wrong? If they sell out, they'll bring more. The next time they might even be better or cheaper. I can't see how there would be a problem with an earlier release. I won't be ready till next spring, probably. If it comes out earlier, I might try to find a way to make something of my #2 spot on the list.
