hey, since subaru is redesigning the body of all of the impreza's,and it will be out in my2004, do you think it will have an affect on when we get our sti??? i dont think subaru would bring a car over only for the body style to change in one year.any opinions??????????
also, do you think the announcement of the evo 7 coming helps???????

Latest I have heard is this is going to happen in time for the MY04 Impreza. I also firmly believe we are Talking a April-May 2003 release of the STi here.

Subaru has launched reskins, most recently the '01 Forester and '02 Impreza before the middle of the preceding year to the model year. They released the '01 Forester in Febuary-March 2000 and the '02 Impreza as we know in March 01.

I think what you are going to see is a very minor reskin, ala Forester '01.

In the final analysis, our STi just might show up with the new skin, but I don't see it delaying release at all.

Are they doing this "sudden" style change in the WRX from a result of bad sales or something? I thought they were doing great in America and I assume they would be doing good in their home country...am I wrong?

Nah, I think that's pretty common for most Japanese car makers - they tend to "freshen up" the design frequently.

The Germans OTOH leave them alone for many year. For example, the BMW E36s (3 series) were the same from '91 to '98 without much of a change at all.

Like i was saying. My friend who is a manager at subaru says its going to happen for shure and he think late 2002, early 2003. Hopefully its the truth so I can be one of the first to get the STI :smile:

So instead of the STi we all see in photos etc. we might get a newly designed one made by Prodrive? Is this going to look similar to the Prodrive STi in Europe right now?(You know, the one with the large wing)

I would like them to bring the JDM version over. They know thats the one that we want. Who knows, maybe well even have several models to choose from just like in japan.

Do you mean JDM spec wise? If so, I agree, but appearance wise I kind of like the UK Prodrive version the best.

there are pros and cons of both of them. Personally Im not that picky between the two. I would like to see specs of the JDM version but i doubt thats gonna happen.
