Anyone looked into an alarm or GPS tracking device? I am pretty sure the STi will be a popular target for thieves. I was looking into a GPS tracking device which retails for around $600.

I have a co-worker who has a cell phone that can be located via GPS. It might be cheaper to hide one of those in the car somewhere?

Either way, it would be nice to know where you car was 24/7. I have also learned that LoJack is not available in my area. Even if it was, they have a 2+ hour location window. In two hours a STi could quickly become a memory.

My CA&E has a review of that devie and three others (One from www.crimestopper.com, www.guidepointsystems.com, and www.gps2000online.com). The InterTrak system has the most available options when compared to the others.

I am planning on getting one of these devices installed sometime soon after purchasing the STi. Probably the InterTrak.

Wow! I'm sold.

So, the 600.00 is just for the Intertrak module itself. You still would need an Alarm to go with it, right? Does anyone know what alarms are "compatible" with the intertrak unit?

Here are my features needed in order of priority, high to not as high:

Keyless Entry
Starter Disable
Shock Sensor
And other features (are there some that are really cool??)...

The InterTrak will work with either a factory or aftermarket alarm.

BTW, There are monthly fees attached to the InterTrak (at least according to CA&E) along with the rest of the devices. They are uses-per-month type plans.

Here's an interesting add to the conversation:

Who else has access to this tracking data besides you? Lets say that you are cruising down the highway testing your STi's limits and are doing triple-digit speeds. Would the police have any access to this data?

Just an interesting thought for us to discuss..
