This is more of a "I smell BS" from the dealer then anything.
I was on my way to work yesterday and I noticed that I was only getting 8lbs of boost in all gears, modes ect. It was in the high 70's low 80's for temp, nothing overly hot. I call and get an appointment for this morning and take it in thinking it should be a quick / easy repair so I go sit and wait about 45 minutes.
I get told that I was only getting 8lbs of boost due to the hot weather. I immediately say "not at 7am when it was cooler out, that wasn't the issue". She proceeded to tell me they updated the ECM to AE5T201V (for loss of boost in higher ambient temperatures)and the Master tech (she name dropped that) has verified functionality.
Ok, so what really happened? I wasn't born yesterday and her explanation isn't logical, the car has been driven under hotter summer conditions in the past. I'm guessing the ECU had an error and he updated the version to fix it? Why not just be honest? It seems silly to give me such a illogical answer.
