2020 will be the last year for current (VA) gen chassis.
Subaru already released some info on minor changes it will get.
- The front grille of the WRX and WRX STI has been redesigned. Subaru says a plating mall has been added to emphasize the wing motif.
- STI gets newly-designed front fog lamp covers.
- New/redesigned 19-inch aluminum wheels
- New trunk release that works without the key fob and can be opened when all the doors were unlocked
- New Series.white (ceramic white) edition limited to 250 Stis
more info should be released soon...

Sounds interesting. Where did you see this?

Thank you for posting this. I ordered a 2019 a couple of months ago, still has not arrived and I always had in the back of my mind, should I have waited a few months for the 2020 spec. This gives me some peace of mind that much is the same. Things I was interested in was, different colored calipers, different rims (these current ones are going to be such a pain to wash), unique 2020 color (like what Series.Gray was). Anyhow, all good.

Just got my 2019, and so far, 2019 and 2020 have very minimal differences. Glad about that, you can pretty much build the same car. And i kind of like the '19s 19" al wheels so much better. That and the fog light and LED strip is available after market isn't it?

Otherwise, the car is still beautiful. Can't wait for 2021

As a MY18 owner I was hoping for more changes so I would be tempted to trade-in before expensive maintenance items come due. I'd love the last year of rumble boxer for a winter beater, as slow as STI's are in summer it's a driving pleasure in winter that ticks all the boxes.

Whats so hard about...
350hp ish
50-100lbs weight loss
Rev matching, no lift shift, launch control.
Warranty approved dealer installed stage 1 kit

Carbon ceramic brake option (Icing on cake)
Night vision option (Icing on cake)

I'm curious if there'll truly be a Series White.. TorqueNews is the only source that I've seen publish this info. I was honestly expecting a "Final Edition" model to send off the EJ engine like other countries have been doing.

The LNF cobalts have a 3.82 FD 5 speed, and the STi 6 speed is 3.90 FD. The transmission is much more stout, but Subaru does not care about drag racing.

Subaru could put Launch control and NLS like the SS but AWD launches are a different beast compared to the LNF. the LC was useless in the Cobalt, even at stock power, because it would wheelspin so bad.

I found it much better for ETs to just feather the throttle.

I bought my 2019 STI (base with the Recaro package) for ~$37k with 1.9% Subaru financing. They had a used 2018 STI (base) with ~10k miles for $36k. It was a no brainer for me to buy new.

the new foglight cover, not sure if U.S. will get the light bezel, but these are already avaibale to buy on japanparts
I selfishly hope that we don't get these in the U.S. since I just ordered them 2 weeks ago from JapanParts. They're not particularly cheap.
