I've been reading around the forums and it seems like everyone is using Rotella T6 5w40. I was wondering if it would void the warranty on my vehicle as it says to only use it as replenishment and to replace it with 5w30 as soon as you can.

Should I stick with 5w30 or go with 5w40? Any recommended oils other than Rotella T6 5w40?

p.s. I couldn't call my service department to double check if it would be alright as they're closed until Monday.

Here is a Subaru oil chart: 5-40 is ok. If you run 5w30 DO NOT USE MOBILE I. Get a race quality 5w30 like Motul.

Please dont start another one of these. Dont follow that chart, the one in your owners manual is different. If you want to stay warranty compliant according to subaru than you need to use Any 5w30 that meets API SN or SN spec. Pretty much every name brand gf-5 oil 5w30 at the parts store. Will you void your warranty with t-6 probably not, but it is technically non compliant. There already is an oil thread out there in the 2015 section and its the same for 2016's.

Thanks for clarification. It gets confusing reading these forums at times because recommendations for oil keeps getting thrown around. One person will say 5w40, then another would say 5w30 and then another random comment in between as to why this is better than the other.
