Re: My first Subaru. 2010 STI hatch - WRB

I know it's not everyone's taste... but I'm really debating between these 2 sets of wheels. I'm torn between going with CCW LM20's in either White or Hyperblack or Work VSXX in White or Burning Black.

Part of my thought process, the VSXX have been done plenty of times, but are my all time favorite wheels. The LM20's are more rare, but sometimes I feel they look a bit small because of the step lip.

I'm sure you all know what the wheels look like, but here's a reference anyway.

Let me know which you think would look better on my WRB hatch.

How about get a nice fitting set of hyperblack Volks and then sell them to me in April and buy the CCW. Deal?!

Re: My first Subaru. 2010 STI hatch - WRB

Thinking about doing the 11+ front end swap. I've read a few pages that had the part numbers, but those were outdated. From what I know, I'm going to need:

11+ Front bumper
11+ fog covers (have fogs now, but I like the look w/o them for the new bumper)
11+ front grill
Fender liners
tow hook cover

I've tried looking for the part # for the fender liner / tow hook but came out empty.

-Will I be able to use the side vents from my current bumper on the 11+ bumper?
-Will I be able to use the STI badge from current grill onto the 11+ grill ?

I'm guessing this will be about ~$700 in parts alone, and another $300-$400 in paint/labor. Kind of steep, but I do like the look of it. Kind of bored of the 08-10 bumper.

Few mods I did so far to the STI:

Exterior:

- Taillight overlays with smoked center
- Yellow fog light overlays
- JDM R205 side badges
- STI front delete/marquee plate <---------
- 20% tint
- OEM Rain visors
Where did you get the STI front delete/marquee plate? I ordered the only one I could find from BrandSport.com and it eneded up not fitting and was intended to be used for the back plate only, aka where you must have your state license plate. :bs: Who would ever want that....? Anyways if you could tell me where you got yours I'd greatly appreciate it because it's definitely the best one out there. I also have a 2010 STI hatch like yourself. Looks great man. Thanks

Got my shift knob from WC Lathe Werks. Great quality, great feel, definitely recommend going through him/them for all your shift knob needs.

My thinking is STI/WRX are the only cars you can have blue car with gold wheels so why not gold wheels. Love the stockers but looking forward to your install. Keep up the great work. Coming along very nicely.

I just wanted something different than my stock wheels which are also gold. I've had plenty of Gold/Bronze set-ups on my cars over the days... and wanted something a little more "flashy". But thank you, it's been a tough few months since I can't really do mods in the Chicago winter. I'll have this journal be active throughout the next couple months.

Nice man! Those are going to look awesome.
Thanks, I hope so too. Haven't seen a WRB with LM20's, let alone in white, so I took a bit of a gamble.

Dang big ballin. I couldn't see dropping 3k on a set of wheels.
That was my initial thinking too. But I figure that wheels are the most important exterior mod (along with coilovers) that change up the look of the car. So if I can spend $1,000 on an exhaust to get 3hp .... I figured I may as well indulge on a nice set of wheels.

Few pictures of the STI. 6-10 inches of snow expected, so wanted to take a few pictures before I go out and enjoy the roads. Didn't want to take out my DSLR, so these are just iPhone pictures. :p
