I am wondering if a metal valve TPMS from a 2008 STI will work on a 2012 STI.

I am looking to order tires and wheels on tirerack and the wheels I want (rpf1 17x8 gold) show up when searching under a 2008 STI w/ OE metal valve stem but do not show up when searching under a 2012 STI or even just 2008 STI when selecting the rubber valve stem.
I asked a agent at tirerack and he said it was because the TPMS with the metal valve may not work in the 2012 STI. That the system wont read it. Is this true? Can I order under the 2008 STI w/ OE metal valve with TPMS and have no problems in my 2012 STI?

Thanks for your response ahead of time.

I am looking into this for you. I want to double check somethings and will have an answer for you tomorrow.

There is no such Metal Stem TPMS on the 2008 STI. I had both sets of oem wheels and both have the rubber stem TPMS.

I think it's a default selection that TireRack never edited out

It's similar problem Crutchfield had when you selected the car on their website. They used to ask you to select if it has a factory single din, Factory Single with pocket or Dual din. All happen to be dual din (actually a bit larger than dual)
Again, it's a standard default selection that was never corrected

Thanks, I would like to know if the metal valve TPMS that is available (since the rubber one is not) when selecting the rpf1s under the 2008 model will work on the 2012... Since it doesn't allow me to select this wheel under the 2012 model.
Looking forward to your response!

It will work fine. The way the wheels come is with a rubber valve and then we sell an option metal sleeve that goes over it. You can call me to order or when ordering online reference my name at checkout and I will look everything over.
