Hopefully he's starting at $15,000. I can probably get a trade of $18 on it and that's a trade.

Yeah, that's what I was going to say. Plus you are making me look like a jerk for wanting 12K for my RS. ;) Just kidding.. :)

Not intending to disparage your super sweet clean ride.

You are all correct I was planning on starting @ $15K.

Murley? You really think I should get that much on a trade? REALLY? Kelly Blue Book says $17,045 for excellent condition (which it is in) in my area.

Although I intend to start @ $15K I didn't expect to get MUCH more than that... Maybe $18,000 MAX... I based that on closed auctions on eBay that were for similar cars with similar mileage...

Now I feel stupid. If I can get $17K or more with no hassle by trading it in then I'm probably going to do that.

I will talk to my dealer tomorrow and let you know what they say... I kinda of figured they'd be gunning for me 'cause I got a GREAT (compared to KBB) trade-in on my old car AND bought my WRX @ dealer invoice...

The damn STi is clouding my thinking all ready!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Buying a home

Murley,

I have always wanted to know...

What ABOUT THE CAR ITSELF makes a difference in determining trade-in value? Can you identify some common things that a dealership looks at?

I mean I assume that it's important that everything works and that all doors are present and stuff... How important is it that the car be clean? How clean?

Help a brotha out...

wELL, THE BIGGEST THING THAT THEY LOOK FOR IS THE BASIC CONDITION OF THE CAR AND THE CURRENT MARKET CONDITION. iF THE MARKET IS DOWN LIKE IT HAS BEEN RECENTLY, THEN APPRAISAL VALUES ARE LOWER THAN NORMAL. aLSO, IF THE VEHICL IS CLEAN, THEN THEY HAVE A TENDANCY TO LOOK...., UMMMM. IF IT'S CLEAN THEN TTHE CUSTOMER TAKES MORE CARE OF IT. tHEN, OBVIOUSLY THE MILEAGE AND THE OPTIONS AND BLAH BLAH BLAH[/img]
