Hi all !! I have just joined, great site with lots of very useful info, job well done !!

I am from The Bahamas and I am currently bidding nightly (through a company that bids in Japan) on 2001 WRX STI's japan spec with under 10kms on the tach ( I am bidding on a white 2001 STI JPN spec with 5kms tonight, wish me luck, should know by about 11am tomorrow if I won the bid or not). If I dont win tonight I should hopefully have one purchased in a week or two with a little luck. (Will take about 4 - 5 weeks to get here though

We can drive the RHD Japan spec cars 100% legal here with no mods needed at all. We also have 98 RON gas which is good enough, although it is the minimum recomended for the JPN spec STI.

My question is does anyone have any feedback as to how strong the gearbox, tranny etc is on the 2001 STI JPN spec ?? I currently own a 96 Mitsubishi GST with 40k miles and I am very worried about the dreaded crank walk

I plan on keeping the STI pretty much stock as the Japan spec should be very fast and keep me happy for a bit.

I only hope the whole tranny, drivechain etc is super strong cuase I dont want to have to deal with any major repairs for a few years on a 2001 car.

Thanks !! and I hope the STI gets to the US for you guys

OH yea, dont think I am lucky becuase this car will not be cheap, duty here is 57% on cars over a value of $10,000 USD

Cheers,
Ray
