i know nothing is official, but according to most of the "hear say" the new (2015) wrx or sti are going to have 2.0's. if so, what's the advantages compared to the 2.5l? wouldn't the 2.5l produce more power? are they going for something lighter weight? i can't imagine it being that much lighter. correct me if i am wrong. any thread i've found is either not specifically answering my questions or more than 6yrs old

I don't know, maybe thicker cylinder walls and higher revs? My best guess is global standardization, less parts to develop/worry about.
Thing is, the FA20 DIT isn't the freakin' dinosaur EJ257 you all remember, so we'll have to wait and see how it does in the market.
