So i have an 06 sti 1056 miles and i have the factory short shifter, i was wondering if it is suppose to be hard to manually put the shifter into first gear there is not effort to shift it into 2 threw 6th but first you have to but effort into it to shift. is this normal???

yep its normal, and you def shouldn't force it. i normally dont shift into first unless im stopped or just very slowly rolling. subaru gear box's just dont like shifting into first (especially when the trans isnt warmed up).

in the newsletter that subaru sent me, it told me it is absolutely bad for the tranny to shift into 1st or reverse unless you are close to stopped due to it's ratio is so different from the other gears.

If you are talking about putting it in from a roll, then the answer is yes. Like the people above said, try not to put it into 1st when your are rolling, unless it's under 10 miles.

I remember the WRX was way worse. I usally only use 2nd unless stopped. Habit. lol

There's a little book in the glove box called an owners manual. Read it please.
