Yup, PBMS have changed owners a few times in the last few years so quite a bit different from the old days, still an option never the less. I think I’ll stick with my tuner for this time and either have them install a purchased block or help me build one up, but I have heaps of time to sort.
And I may have a quote from a certain boutique coming lol..

Since you have time maybe see how I go with my 2.3L. I may be able to get you a deal on a short block identical to mine.

2.3 would be awesome. similar to 2l in character while having more displacement and better rod/stroke ratio.

Corner weighting done, came out at 1427kg without driver and 1/4 tank of fuel. The cross weight should improve a bit if the tank is fuller too because of the saddle tank design most of the fuel would have been on the drivers side since it was low.

Weights in pounds, 3352lbs with driver (205lbs), definitely intend on improving that too, should help the cross weight (49.2%) further!

Weekend Summary

Overall a successful #nzsuperlap weekend, completed the Friday test day to try and learn the track being only my 2nd time there, and having issues last year. My previous PB was a 1:47.1 with fuel pressure sensor issues and by the end of Friday I was down to a 1:43.6 on pump gas and medium boost.

Saturday morning was going to be one of the faster sessions of the weekend so I mixed in some E85 (about E60) and managed a 1:41.9, and didn’t manage to improve on this throughout the rest of the day with only low 1:42’s and still trying to get my braking points and gears right.

So Sunday morning was the new best chance of a fast lap, so put in some more E85, switched the tires front to back and topped up the oil and went full send in the first session. Didn’t go quite as planned with a large amount of oil getting blown out the catch can breather pipe under the car mid flying lap, so I cruised it in and cleaned it up ready for the next session. Session 2 I managed to improve to a 1:41.7, however was showing I was up 0.8 in the midfield but was too ambitious with my late braking on the main straight, locked up and just managed to avoid the grass to bring it around to complete the lap. Looking at the videos and data, there’s definitely a low 1:40 or 1:39 in there if I can string it all together. This left me in 3rd for Street 4WD and about 10th overall (TBC)

Pretty happy with this being my 2nd time at the track and the guys beating me in my class were a 360kw Evo 10, 450kw Supra and 600+kw R32 GTR. Other cars in top 10 all had more power, 700kw Sti, 400kw Sti, 660kw Evo 7, 490kw Evo 7, 530kw S14, 500kw S13.

Here’s the video of my 2nd Fastest Lap as forgot to record the fastest one. Ignore the timing the ref Lap is wrong.

I’d need a wayyyy bigger budget for that. So many things I want to do before spending money on shipping the car over there. Would love to one day though! Will need to visit in person this year to scope it out.

Some more pictures from the weekend. I think I’m going to get that long exhaust chopped next week, looks a bit odd. I’ll just shorten the tip a bit for a start. Got my Girodisc rotors today as well. Will get them on next week. Street sprint on the 20th.

Photos and results from the De Havilland Dr Street Sprint yesterday. Was unfortunate it was cut short by a crash, and I didn’t get to do a 4th run. Which shuffled me from 3rd to 5th overall by the guys who did. I had my launch to improve on and missed a gear in my fastest run which may have jumped me up a place or two. 5th overall and 3rd in class. Car was going well all day minus the launch control and the new GiroDisc rotors seem to work well!

Fastest lap of the day

Booty shot for TBAG, notice the shorter exhaust

Ah great looking exhaust mate!

Really impressed with how many events you have done on this engine.

Omg, that guymade a big mess of his car...sad as I know how it feels.

Haha
Yes engine has served me well, will do as many events as possible this year and see how it holds up. The power it makes is still a decent amount and it’s been reliable so will stick with it for now.

Did a Go to Whoa event on the weekend which I managed to win, basically launch and stop within 60m, short but fun, good for launch practice. Still perfecting my launch control went faster testing a few days before, with a 1.7 60ft on a back road, only managed a 1.8 here.

Successful weekend at Manfeild on the weekend for NZ Superlap Series Round 3, came away with 3rd in Street 4WD and improved 1.3 seconds on my personal best time from a 1:18.0 to a 1:16.7 Some stiff competition from others in street class this year! Finished 13th fastest overall. Video of my fastest lap of the weekend.

I tried Motul 300V 20W60 for this round which did seem to help keep my pressures up, meant I could do 3 full power laps before the oil pressure cuts (40psi over 4000) would start coming in, that was only at 115 C oil temps though so I think long temp need to try figure out what the issue might be, could be the oil pump, or clearances etc..

Other than that car performed well with no issues, next round in 2 weeks.
