Re: 2008 JDM Sti - Work Emotion 11R 18x9.5" - White

Sooo... Head Re-assembly and Valve setup will be complete by mid monday, then once the engine jumps back into the car we can begin the tuning  Heres to hoping we get at least 500whp on pump gas. Oh I wish I could get my hands on some E85 then id be in the 600whp territory.

On the Wheels I've decided on White Work Emotion 11R 18x9.5" +38 Offset with a black centre cap

Also this one looks good with the extra Black decal.

Re: 2008 JDM Sti - Work Emotion 11R 18x9.5" - White

Great choice! I've been eyeing these for a while too.

How much fender work will you need?
Next to none, he will need a slight roll in the rear with 265/35/18 tires :)

T3h_Clap would be the place to check to be 100% sure!

Re: 2008 JDM Sti - Priorities

Today I was thinking to myself maybe I should delay purchasing new wheels for my car and save a bit of money for a change.

But then I suddenly realised i had a iPhone 6 on order, so if i could cancel that, it would pay for half my new wheels, so i promptly cancelled the phone and put a deposit down on the wheels so they could order them in.

I think I got my priorities right...

Onto the real talk.

Pistons are currently being machined to accommodate the larger valves. Then it will all be put back together.

Re: 2008 JDM Sti - Tyres Choice?

What tyres should I get for my new rims.

I will get 265/35/R18 and preferably Z to Y tyre rating as I will be going above 240kmh(150mph)..

Just the brand is in question. I prefer All season tyres as its not always dry here in New Zealand.

In the past I have used Flaken and Michelin tyres.

Re: 2008 JDM Sti - 10% increase to 470whp @ 26psi fuel supply issues

Car is currently being tuned, so far they have got a 10% increase in power with the larger valves and head/piston porting, to 470whp, at 26 psi. Made this power really easily but now running into fuelling issues with the 500hp fuel pump maxed out. Apparently this is the largest one that can fit into the factory clamps. So tuner is trying to look at options to help with this so we can increase boost and make more power.

Nice results!

Aeromotive 340lph should be enough

Re: 2008 JDM Sti - AEM 320lph fuel pump installed = More POWER

After market industry guys are originally from NZ. Give the a call, put the Kiwi accent on and get a proper surge and fuel system from them :)

Very nice quality and reasonable prices also.

That being said you can add an inline AM340, Walbro 416 or 044 Bosch. But, you will have surge problems with that much power and specially if/when tracking the car.

I think the AEM pump should solve the issue for now.

What is the company name?

Re: 2008 JDM Sti - AEM 320lph fuel pump installed = More POWER

Not much improvement with the new pump, fuel line connectors are restricting the flow of the fuel, so they are being drilled out now.
Whatever you save now, you will end up paying down the track.

I would upgrade the lines and do fuel rails and FPR tbh.

Er. didn't realize you had rails already.

Re: 2008 JDM Sti - 470whp and increasing (hopefully)

I ran the stock fuel system with 255lph and 1000cc injectors when I had stock heads and a GT35R on pump gas. Once I did the headwork/big cams, I upgraded to 340lph pump, 2000cc injectors (overkill for pump gas ), IAG fuel rails, and Aeromotive FPR on pump gas. I don't ever recall having to drill the fuel connectors.

I have the 320lph pump and highflowed injectors to 1400cc, upgraded rails and lines, its something to do with the clamp on the connectors which makes the fuel line taper down at the connection restricting the flow. Anyways they'll sort something, gone to far to stop now.

Re: 2008 JDM Sti - 470whp and increasing (hopefully)

It was a fuel pump power supply issue. So the latest is 480whp @ 28psi. They are going to try up to 30psi to try hit the 500whp mark. But ill just go with what ever they get. The ECU changes the SI drive button into a boost controller, with Low, medium and High boost settings so its not continuous driving at high boost.

Re: 2008 JDM Sti - 470whp and increasing (hopefully)

With 30 psi. You may want to put a deposit on a Factory closed deck Group N EJ 207 short motor :)
hmm. They increased the boost in the midrange and the final figure is 370kw atw (496whp) with E85 and a surge tank recommend to go any further. Maybe one day.. when I win lotto, setup an E85 petrol station in my home town, and turn this into a track dedicated car.

Re: 2008 JDM Sti - 496whp on Pump

Come on 496 is actually 500 AWHP. So mission accomplished and congrats.

Time to enjoy the car!

I remember after my first line of mods, I liked the way the car drove soo much I drove 1000 km in 4 days :)
Thank you. :)

For sure! It hasn't really registered with me that I will finally get the car back. Will pick up this Friday.

I've got a 400km trip back to New Plymouth from Auckland, so I'll be sure to see how it goes.
