The 03 rally cars are in Colorado Springs today for the annual Pikes Peak Hill Climb. I was able to snatch up a bunch of high res pics (scaled down here). Let me know if anyone would like bigger / more pics.

You know, I've driven up Pikes Peak. It amazes me that anyone can operate a vehicle at anything over 3 MPH around the turns above the tree line. Us easterners had to basically crawl back down the mountain in first gear with the brakes on, and even that crawl had my wife petrified.....

Notice how the intercooler is on the front of the rally car. I found that quite interesting (the hood scoop on the WRC is useless).

As I was leaving, guys climbed into both of them and drove off (incredible sounding!) Turns out when I was taking these pics, the doors were unlocked! If only I had known
Turns out rally cars don't have door locks. Do the ignition on them take keys??? :lol:

I thougth those racer guys were smarter than that. We all know that for maximum weight reduction you add A/C, auto door locks and windows and remove the floormats instead.

The hood scoop isn't useless. It feeds the intake directly, instead of feeding a top-mount IC. It's a big panel air filter under there.

^^^ not only that, it'll also help to cool the engine bay....which is always needed w/ a turbo

they look good, but too many decals etc. (even tho they are rally cars for real races ::shrug:: ) an they have too much wheel gap :lol: if that was a street car, it'd look much better w/ a huge drop an some nice volks instead of cheaper knockoffs

You're right. I was being and idiot when I wrote this Clearly, there is nothing useless on the WRC. Thats whats so incredible about it.

^^^^ Amen man. I've always wondered why someone hasn't pulled that off. I'm sure it wouldn't be easy, but damn.....talk about a tuner car to turn heads!
