I got a FP Red turbo with the 7cm hotside and just got off the phone with forced performance. They told me that even with the 7cm hotside that the red is suppose to make up to 600whp. Call them and ask them cuz that is what they told me. Now if I switch it to a 8cm hotside I will only see a little bit of a power increase but not much. So with that compared to a 35R both turbos are close in power. If a 35R can put out as much as 500whp-600whp, then the FP Red should be able to as well from what FP is saying. They both got the same compessor wheels, .70 A/R and 65 lb per min. The only thing is one is BB and a .63 or .82 A/R on the hotside. What is everyone's input on this?

Heavy horsepower chasing is dangerous when you don't have a proven starting point. A 7cm stock location Red is not a practical turbo for 600whp on an STi regardless of what FP said, DSMs excluded. Unless you have the right supporting mods there is no guarantee you will hit 600whp on either of them, but it is much more realistic with a 35R.

If your goal is 600whp dtich the red and get the 35R..

I have to agree, you have a much better chance with a 35R then the Red. Also you do realize 600 WHp is very very expensive and intensive to reach?

From everything Ive heard the Red is not capable of making 600whp on our cars. We will find out soon though because one I get my new shortblock in I will be maxing out my Red and seeing what it is really capable of.

Nice!! you need to let me know how much you end up putting down because I am building a stonger shortblock myself.

It's not hard to reach close to 600whp. I will have the money to do it and I will have the mods to reach the power. Don't forget that the tune is a big part of that factor too.;) I think the most I have seen with a red though is about 507whp. I do see what you guys mean with the 35R. It is easier to reach that hp with that turbo. That also won't be a daily driving map, just for the track.

why do you want 600whp? just curious what your goals are with the car

Well I talked to mike hess at forced performance again and he is still saying that the red will put out 600-620whp. So why are you guys doubting what the company says it can do? Just because we haven't seen any sti's yet pushing that much with a red doesn't mean it can't happen.

You asked what people thought. Remember, this is your car and money, not FP's. You should be looking for reasons to justify making the smarter decision, not the unproven one given the cost of this adventure.
