just pulled the ej25 block out the other day, the engine failed after a wrist pin clip came off and scared my cyclinder wall. My question is what is the best approach to fix the issue its at 99.5mm bore right now i should be able to fix it with a 100mm.... need opinions

How scared is it? :busted::rolleyes: Really, any images? If not scared really bad, would think 99.75 might correct it. But only a machinist could properly advise.

maybe this will fix your problems...

in all seriousness, take it to a reliable machinist, one that has worked on subaru engines before. I recently got mine bored to 99.75 with cosworth pistons and it's driving great, but it has pretty limited damage (ringland).

I was just barelyyy able to catch a fingernail on some vertical scoring of one of my walls, and was lucky enough that a bore to 99.75mm was enough to eliminate the scoring

Those look pretty deep. Machine shop will have to determine if they will clean up and at what size.
GL and keep us nosy folks posted with results.

Holy hell that looks bad! Wrist pin clip failed?

If its half as bad as it looks, it looks fukedd!

I've seen used block halves on craigslist for around $500 for both.

Yea the engine had a wrist pin clip failure, it had cp pistons in it but the clips seemed to be different than what i had seen on the kits no idea maybe it could of been stock...

what i would really like to find is closed deck halves if there available anywhere? I also have a 704 block which i have been reading that they have cylinder wall failure. i dont wanna build my whole engine around a 100mm piston size and compromise the strength, sounds like a money pit. Its been really difficult for me to figure out whats my best approach in this situation.

Was it a circlip? Or wire?

Ahh no pretty sure those are the stock ones, just a bent piece of wire really.

These are legit circlips which came with my JE's and what I also plan to use w/ my CP's
