Hi guys. Just received my LIBERAL JDM DRL kit today. Just need some advice on the wiring install since the instructions are in Japanese

Here is part of the wiring instructions:

It requires a power supply tap to an ignition or ACC source. My questions are:

1. Is there an ignition or ACC source in the engine bay where I could tap the positive red wire into? It would be easier to tap into a source located in the engine bay rather than having to snake the wires all the way into the fuse area and use fusetaps. I want the DRLs to turn on only when the ignition or ACC is switched on.

2. Any idea where the blue wire is for?

Thanks for looking!

why don't you tap into the stock DRL wiring? i'm assuming the blue wire would be a switch so that when you turn on your headlights it turns off the DRL's.

Did you buy them from JapanParts? If so I would try and get in touch with them. When I bought my Liberal LED reflectors from them Yuki had me scan the instructions and email them to him. He in turn sent me back a translated copy of the instructions.

I sent them a pic of the harness connections and this is what was translated for me:

So red goes to ignition or accessories. The blue wire is what im confused about since they said that it goes to illumination. The only illumination i can think of is in the fuse box where i used a tap-a-fuse to tap in for my defi gauges. So thinking out loud, does the illumination wire serve as a switch which tuns off the drl at night when you turn on your park and headlights? I was thinking it had a similar function to wiring gauges in the sense that in daytime, it shines brightly but at night when you turn on your park/headlights, it dims the gauge lights so as not to appear too bright.

That would be my guess, so you don't have to connect it. You would just have an extra light at night.

I like these. What did they cost you? Please post pics when you have them installed.

Did a trial harness hookup today using tap-a-fuse to the fusebox. Red wire to IGN 1, black wire to body ground, and blue to ILM. My assumptions were right: drl turns on at ignition start, then fades to a lower light ouput when parklight/headlights turn on. Very nice! Will find some time to hookup this weekend.

Now, should i leave the foglight garnish as-is as glossy black, or should i body color it to my WRB color?

Can you take some pix on how you hook up the wires please? Mine will be here anytime soon, I could use it as a reference. BTW, my STi is EDM just like yours and I am in Taiwan =)

P.S. I bought the full kit, can't wait to see these!
