OP, I'm watching your video. At ~3:30 on, I'm confused as to why you aren't using spring compressors to compress the spring while you tighten the strut tops down. You have to use spring compressors to properly disassemble and assemble nearly any McPherson strut.

From ~3:30 on, I'm not getting what you're trying to demonstrate without actually using a spring compressor. It appears to me that the spring force that you're fighting while tightening the strut top nut is causing the perches to improperly seat; giving you the impression that the strut top nut is totally tight. You then jiggle everything like this is how it should be.

Or maybe I'm missing the point of this whole thread. At the 6:45, you mention being "required" to use a spring compressor after grinding the strut. My question is, if this was the first time you were "required" to use a spring compressor, how did you get the OEM struts apart without taking your head off?

jesus christ, threads like these make me feel great about selling my car. i sure hope you vendors are making alot of money to put up with all the master mechanic/race drivers/know-it-all-dbag-ricers.

op- do yourself a huge favor and just torch that honda fit, you'll save a ton of money since you wont be part sloppin anymore.

Terry: I recognize your frustration, and while everything you said in your message may well have been entirely accurate, such things accomplish nothing but things like this (I went and found it on YouTube). You've already admitted it as a mistake. Lesson learned. Sadly, as someone who depends on enthusiast business - however much of it comes from this particular forum - you just have to set your jaw and nod. Escalating a pissing match only ends with everyone standing in a big puddle of piss. There's no pleasing some people.

Take all of that for what it's worth. I've seen these kinds of things on multiple forums for multiple different makes and models, and Hell, I've gotten involved to try to resolve them in a few cases. Inevitably I've regretted ever saying anything. I only said anything here to try and head off this :bs: before it became a 50 page leviathan of fail. Looks like I'll have another regret to add to the cache.
Agreed. I can't ever truly "win" in some of these situations. Any customer that feels wronged in whatever way can speak badly of us on 100 forums, whether true or not, and in the end, its their word against ours. Someone can even post recorded phone conversations or upload "instructional videos" of parts being installed incorrectly, too. I would have hoped that when a forum finds out that something is incorrect they would put a stop to it there, at least, but sometimes these folks are just left to their own devices.

Its obvious that this thread is not about this customer getting his money back, its about trying to hurt our company. This thread isn't going to go anywhere other than his full refund - but it will likely continue to spiral into the abyss until he runs out of steam.

Mr. Adamopoulos - you can send all of the parts back for a refund. That's the best you're going get here. Or you can keep tilting at windmills and get nothing for all of your efforts.

That's all I have to say on this matter. This is the last post I will make in this thread in reference to Emmanuel Adamopoulos and his claims. We hope to see all of the parts from his RMA arrive, and I wish him the best of luck with his new parts suppliers.

Thanks,

I have been contacted individually by both the manufacturer and customer.

Here is the issue I face right now.

My moderators and some IWSTI members seem to feel this thread should be closed.

Regardless of what happened or the condition of the parts, the manufacture has offered the customer a non-conditional refund for parts that were sold by one of the manufacturer's dealers (is this right?). This was the state of affairs prior to the customer posting on the site.

Now that the customer has posted a negative review on IWSTI with certain statements made as fact that the manufacturer contests, AND the manufacturer has responded, what is the proper course of action that we should take?

What reason do you see to allow this thread to remain open?
What reason do you see to close this thread?

Etos or Terry, do either of you having anything more you would like to add to this thread related to this incident?

IWSTI Members, what do you think should be done?

As you probably already know I feel the thread should now be closed. Both sides have said their piece and nothing good can come from this thread remaining open. I'm pretty sure that Terry does not wish to waste anymore time on this matter by continuing to argue with Etos here. I am also certain that Etos will continue his attempt to defame Terry regardless of what is said or done. This thread is no longer a vendor review. It is time for it to end.

Thanks for posting here. You know how I feel, Kevin - there is nothing more to add on our end. Even after all of his comments here we're still willing to offer Emmanuel a refund on all of his parts.

He has started identical threads on another forum(s), but IWSTI forum members have already linked to this thread (thanks), which of course has a fairly thorough explanation from both sides. This way, hopefully, we don't have to waste any more time defending our actions in duplicate.

With this massive time sucking thread hopefully winding down, I am going to spend tonight and catch up on updates to 4 different project threads I am involved with, then spend the 3 day weekend wrenching and welding on all four of these cars and get some real work done. :) This is what I would normally be doing with my daily forum time; I thought maybe people here might be interested in some of the projects we're working on.
Have a nice weekend everyone,

I guess the OP didnt get the intended reaction from all the members so he has moved on to another forum. This was pretty funny at first but not anymore. I say shut her down.
