will i pass with the SSQV bov and an aftermarket intake?

i passed before with an intake with my civic some years back but what about the BOV? im lookin to get the 2year sticker, will that make a difference as far as inspection goes?

Just got my safety inspection and emissions. Safety is lights, blinkers, etc., so you'll be fine. Emissions includes a visual inspection, which looks for a cat, an recirculating PCV system, a gas-tank evap control system, and a EGR system. Nothing gets tested, just looked at. After that, they run the sniff test. You should be good to go on since you have only modded the intake side. Just don't mess with the above items...

I passed with a Turbo Smart BOV. Haven't tried with a CAI yet. Dunno if they will even check....Its not a complete PITA to switch out to stock airbox if you still have one though, not like replacing a DP. If your worried just switch out should take a few minutes. Hope that helps

For the most part they dont pull out the mirror and check for a cat unless they are really anal.

As long as your O2 sensor is still in place you should pass fine. They mostly check for any check engine and then the exhaust to make sure your not emitting more than you should. A properly tuned car should pass without a cat.

can some one answer my question ? please

I had no issues with my *slightly* modified STi.

You can always have a cat heat shield welded on like the MadDad dp. I had a MadDad Catless twp-piece dp with heat shields welded on running to a B&B TriFlow twin-tip along with an APS header...plus a few other things not in the sig.

Just make sure you don't have a Check Engine Light on...that will kill you.

It will be all visual except when they hook up to your OBDII - you won't be on the rollers since it is AWD.

Also the safety inspection also checks visibly for the presence of emissions equipment. That means if you are catless, you can fail the State Inspection.

That's why you weld on a cat heat shield where is should be on a stock exhaust. Some folks run a more efficient cat that is not in the stock location so it just makes things easier than trying to explain...
I ran a two piece so I could swap out a the cat as needed. The cat portion was $$ and resulted in only a few hp difference between not running a cat. There isn't really a reason to run catless in my opinion now other than dyno runs and testing. I won't be going catless on my GT500 for that very reason...

This thread is the closest I could find to my question, but still doesn't answer it. This morning when I got my car inspected, I asked about future inspections with an aftermarket DP. The service manager told me they have to be able to see and read the numbers on the cat for it to pass inspection. They said if it is wrapped, they would have to cut off enough to see the numbers, and if it is ceramic coated, and cannot be read, it would fail. Has anyone run into this and come up with a solution? The Cobb DP would work, but I do not like the 2.5" taper at the end. Looking for 3" all the way. Any help would be appreciated.

This is why I LOVE living in an area/county that has no emissions and will never live in an area that does. I'd go with the Perrin/Invidia DP they're 3 all the way also I think, give No Limit Motorsports a pm and see if the MXP Dp comes catted? I know it comes catless but catted IDK. MXP is suppose to be really nice from what I hear they are pretty new.

So now that I've got my DP, I learn that no aftermarket DP has an EPA certification number for passing inspection in VA! I can either get a shorty, or roll the dice on whether I will need to switch DP for inspection. Tough choice!
