Lol this is stupid. You're going to keep being let down for a few more years.

If you want the car, just go and get it. Why wait just so you can get an engine that really isn't any better.

This is the same shit people have been doing over on the ft86club forums. People keep waiting because they keep "hearing" that the BRZ STI is coming out the next year, and then it never does.

Buy the car if you like it, don't buy it if you don't. Always waiting for something better means you'll always be rewarded with disappointment.

Which is exactly why I went with the 16 instead of waiting for the news on the 17. Hows the weather down there Ryan? Not a lot up snow up here in Thornton. Kinda disappointed

Exactly! There is always going to be an "upgrade" or "update" down the road. You'll spend your entire life always waiting for "the next best one" at that rate.

When I got my 2012 at the end of the cycle, the 13's supposedly were going to be getting an ALL NEW MOTOR Don't hold your breath. Who says Subaru won't stretch the EJ out another 10 years? Probably not, but I sure as hell would not hold off buying a car I wanted just in case.

It IS nice at least that the price isn't going up appreciably. Granted, it shouldn't since there weren't any improvements, but when has that stopped anyone?

Anyway, once the STI finally does ditch the EJ, the car itself could be a total departure from what we have now. Just realize you may never get the exact combination of features you are looking for. Best case scenario, it will probably continue to gain weight and useless features. Worst case, they might totally revamp the model. If you HAVE to have that, then fine. But otherwise you might have to start thinking about settling. Just look at the hatch. I figured they would release the sedan and then be out with a 5 door WRX/STI after a few years. Well, the 2017s are coming and there's not much hint of that...

EDIT: I know all about the "internal documents" and all that jazz. It's exciting, sure, but my point is I haven't seen any real evidence of this yet, so I wouldn't wait forever for a certain feature knowing that the other aspects of the car might change too (potentially negatively).

Glad I decided to pull the trigger on a used CPO '16 limited. Got a great deal too.

Never forget...this is sometimes what wishing for the next greatest version gets you:

1999 (Turbo, AWD):

2000 (NA, FWD):

Granted, probably not much chance of that happening with the STi, but I had a 1999 Eclipse GSX and god DAMN was I glad I didn't wait for the 2000 model.

(and yes I know the 2000 technically had a variant of the same engine, it still sucked)

Hahaha, I was talking with a friend today at a car meet and there was a newer Eclipse there and I remarked how much I loved the old ones - with the bulge in the hood - and then they just went downhill from there.
