Default asianguy80's 2008 AW STi

Hi all,

My name is Kevin and I'm a proud owner of a 2008 AW STi that was purchased back in July 15, 2009. It came with standard 5 spoke rims with fog lights. When I bought it, the car already had 9980 miles clocked on the odometer. My previous cars were a 1996 Honda Accord and a 2005 Toyota Prius. Big surprise that I went from a hybrid to a turbo AWD wagon. After having my Prius I loved having a wagon styled car because it was so convenient and having that extra space for putting things into the back while lowering the seats was awesome.

I actually lost my Prius in an accident where a guy almost T-boned me after he ran a red light. The insurance declared it a total loss and paid me the value of the car so I was on my search for a new car. I was originally looking at the MS3 but I see so many of those on the road and the look of it was starting to wear off on me. Every other car I was looking at didn't fit what I was looking for and I finally stumbled on the STi. The day I saw it online I started looking up websites for forums and any support forums and came up on this site and NASIOC.

The purpose of me getting this car was because I needed a new DD but wanted something with more "umph," so to speak. I was tired of the Prius and the hard ride. The gas mileage was great when gas was $5/gallon here in SoCal but since it's leveled off to a manageable level I figure why not go with something more fun. I will most likely only DD this car and if I ever find time to track or AutoX maybe I'll try but at this moment I do not. I wasn't planning on doing many mod's on the car but once I started I couldn't stop and I've been slowly researching and planning on mods but I don't have a laundry list of what I want to do except for keeping the car pretty stock in terms of power but just do some light modding to keep it a fun DD. I can tell you that it's tons of more fun compared to a Prius. At first, I didn't even know there was a Cobb AP for it until my good friend brought it up and when I researched that I was sold and got one as soon as I purchased the car. After that the itch began...

Here are pics after the accident:

Here is a pic of the STi the day after I purchased it:

Yeap, according to AvoJDM the outer diameter is 358mm vs. stock 375mm. The steering feels a bit more responsive to me because I don't have to move as much anymore...but it could be just me. The DAMD wheel also feels thicker and the material feels much better compared to the stock wheel.

damn that is decently nice...i want one

ya smaller diameter causes it to feel more responsive and also causes the steering to feel a little bit tighter or heavy similiar to a go kart.

a buddy of mine has a 12" steering wheel for his mr2 and it doesnt come with power steering so it felt like i was driving a go kart and working out my forearms at the sametime

What do you think of the Legalis R exhaust? I'm debating getting one.

@DocBlackAdder: TBH I haven't had time to install it yet. It's sitting in my garage gathering dust. I bought it and then a lot of family drama came up and all those parts I've listed up top haven't been installed. It's such a pity to see all those parts in my living room gathering dust. I'm setting up an appointment with Suby Specialties in Monrovia to get most everything installed in Sept so I'll let update you when that all gets settle

Uhm...I know, since I'm not Asian I may not understand other cultures, but...do you have your garage in your living room or your living room in your garage?

I'm just messing with you.

Let me know how it goes.
