Aside from the different suspension setup in stock form, I don't think they are competitors in terms of car spec but rather in terms of after sales service and the decision factor is probably 99% which front end a potential owner likes better.

Best motoring did a side by side video of a few laps around Tsukuba. Subaru as expected tend to understeer at the limit while the FRS doing slight oversteer.
