Default Edmonton SWP 2009 STI Hatchi

Hello my name is Brian. I'm from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. I wanted a sports car that I could also drive in the cold harsh Canadian winters so I bought a 2009 Subaru Impreza WRX STI Hatchback on Feb. 2, 2019.

The previous owner spun a rod bearing, so he rebuilt the shortblock for more power but then lost interest while still in the break-in phase.

This is basically for me to look back on the history of the car and how much fun it was to build.

Plans:
400hp and daily driver

Engine:
Block completely machined, including close decked and blue printed
Manley 99.75mm pistons
Manley rods with ARP bolts
King main and rod bearings
2011+ crankshaft
Killer B Ultimate oil pickup
New OEM oil cooler and 11mm oil pump
Greddy magnetic oil drain plug
Cobb light weight crank pulley
AVCS cam gears
Full cylinder head service
ARP 11mm Head studs
Gates timing belt kit
Air pump delete plates
Turbo rebuilt with new compressor wheel, new turbine housing and CNC ported
Invidia Catless downpipe
Magnaflow Catback exhaust
ACT Heavy Duty Street Disc Clutch

Tranny, Suspension, Brakes:
Stoptech sport slotted rotors
Akebono pads

Wheels:
18” Rota DForce Wheels
Michelin Pilot Sport 4S Tires
17" Phat Kat Racing Engineer Wheels
Sailun Ice Blazer WSL2

Interior:
SMY Dual Gauge pod
52mm Defi oil pressure and boost gauge
Cobb Accessport V2
JVC headunit navigation

Exterior:
Perrin wing riser kit
R205 fender badges
Rally Armor mudflaps Black and Red
Window Tint
Window deflectors, rain guards
Red vinyl tail lights
Subaru oem crossbar roof rack

Just Purchased:

Future Mods:
New tune
Fuel injectors, pump, rails, fuel pressure regulator
Equal length Headers
Boost controller
Short shifter + bushings
Hella supertones

I did a bit of maintenance on the car last weekend. Replaced the cabin air filter, gross. Oil change with Rotella T6 and Fram hd filter also gross. Power steering flush, fluid was brown gross, ghetto fill and turn the steering wheel until it comes out pink way. Plugged in the block heater, unsure why it was unplugged. Cleaned the Cobb air filter. Removed the rope that was used to hold the trunk open. Kind of odd since the shocks are working. Installed the Cobb light weight pulley I found locally for a good deal. Tire pressures to 32psi and lastly found an oil leak at the back of the oil pan. The flywheel is nice and dry so its not the rear main. Lucky there. I'm going to have to re-do the gasket or pay a shop $200 and let them figure out the tranny side bolts.

I bought some redline 75w90 for the tranny and rear diff. I'll probably do that this weekend. I want to do a compression test too for peace of mind. I should of got that done at the subaru pre-purchase inspection. New car, lots of little things to do. It's great. Definately needs a wash.

I wouldn't run Rotella. If you want a cost friendly great oil- get some Motul. Would also recommend Amsoil but it's a bit pricey.

Check out all of our build threads for ideas/ to learn. Welcome!
