Talking Mario’s Kart

Purchased my STI in june 2011 with the intention of lapping it and that’s what I’ve done ever since but man has it been one hell of a learning curve! First off, I gladly bought what Subaru are selling with their 2011 WRX STI Nürburgring Challenge videos. I thought to myself, great I’ll buy that and simply take it to the track in the weekend. I really thought I could lap that car right out of the box! Man was I wrong!

My first time at the track was a lapping school at a very small track (Mecaglisse, Quebec, Canada) that my friends recommended especially because its a great beginner track. At Mecaglisse they are actually specialist at training rally race car drivers, that’s why the tarmac track is small cause the gravel track is big. Anyway it went very well. Burnt my tires a bit but all was fine.

My next time, a month later, was at Calabogie Motorsport Park, now that’s a big 5 km world class brand new track located about an hour from Ottawa Canada. I registered with the MCO High Performance Driving School with a private instructor for the whole day. I had a blast! The track is huge, the speeds are very high, but by mid afternoon I had developed a severe shaking coming from my front brakes and by the end of the day my tires were all done and front brakes finished! My car only had about 6,000 km on it.

Since then I have done over 25 lapping events on 5 different local tracks, including my first 2 GT races in which I came forth on my first race and placed second in the rain for my second race. I have blown engine #1 in June 2012, engine #2 in January this year and engine #3 is pretty much a race engine, built to last, so we’ll see about that. I have also done a rally driving school and started lapping and auto crossing on snow and ice. No need to tell you that I’ve been drowning in that learning curve which is more like a tsunami than a wave for me. Believe me when I say I’ve learned all my lessons the hard way.

Just installed this race pedal to heal and toe. Looks like hell but works great.

Pics of my car at Circuit Mont Tremblant. Cool to have someone shoot your car but 20$ a pics for high res!

Its cool to see that the suspension is fully compress and how my new 275 are filling the inside of the fenders. I really needed a roll and I don’t think I’ll fit tire any wider than that

I finally stumble upon a GR hatch with 17's and 275/40, Great appearance with function.

This makes me anxious for the arrival of my 17" Type-F later this month.

He posted a video of himself tracking the other day!! (Maybe there were 2 videos?) Search for his previous threads.

Also, I've noticed a lot of people hate 17's! If I ever get rims, they would be 17" Enkei RPF1's.

Thanks guys! One more video coming a bit later today... Look at a close up of the fender roll with 275 tire. Can’t believe I waited so long before rolling the fenders.

and also finally de-badged the whole hatch. I took out Subaru. Looks great with the red tail light I think

Yeah I wanted RPF1's but wasn't thrilled about having to run a 38 offset plus 5mm spacers. Also, 16.8lb per wheel for the Type-F's, mmm.

I'll look for previous posts and check the vid.

I posted links of all the vids I have posted here on IWSTI at the end of my first post so if you think you missed some you can check again. My PF01 have an offset of +48 and don’t require any spacers. Its a straight bolt on. Love them
