Default Re: EeeeVAaaa!

Just got my Cobb AP in the mail yesterday (thanks Mikegro!) & Boy do I have the modding bug.....

I'm trying to make a few decisions. I've never been able to buy brand new parts before, always have been used for another local Subaru owner. So I need some advice on some mods that I am going to be buying:

Megan Racing CBE - I haven't seen many members with this exhaust and it's hard to find sound clips of it on the STi. Is there a reason for this? & What catless downpipe could I pair with this exhaust? Same brand, or should I go for something different. Is there anything better? I don't care how my car sounds, I just don't want it to be super loud. I have the Apexi N-1 on my WRX, and it is the perfect decibel for me.

And for looks....
What brand of lowering springs would you recommend?

Ahoj!

I have no experience with Megan Racing parts, but everybody says they're junk and you get what you pay for. Search the forums, I think some people reported major rust with that exhaust (but who knows the circumstances).

If you want a catless DP, I'd go with GrimmSpeed -- very high-quality, and will mate up to any standard 2-bolt exhaust (3"). If you have a 2.5" inch exhaust, then you'll want a downpipe that tapers to 2.5" when it connects to your exhaust. In that case, I think Cobb's downpipe tapers down to 2.5" inch.

I'd recommend looking into Invidia for both the downpipe and catback. You get a lot for your money with Invidia and performance will be second to none. ERZ is another good option for the downpipe if you want rock bottom pricing.

Great to know! I'm browsing CBE's...

Invidia Q300
Perrin
or Agency Power

Off to find sound clips.

I completely forgot you have a '08, so you have the "duel" exhaust ... your choices are much more limited, but you definately can't go wrong with:

Perrin (good quality, but over priced)
Invidia (good bang for the buck)

The only thing you really need to ponder is how much power do you really want to put into the car? If I were you, I'd only go with a TRUE 3" inch exhaust (with NO 2.5" taper). Which means your options get limited fast.

I say forget about quiet ... go with these:

Crawford Performance

You're assured high-quality and some major madness ;-) And I think (but do not know) you can then go 3" inch all around without problem.

Here is the video with them, which I'm sure you've seen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HQ7R_buZPSo

Whatever case, "hodně štěstí s tím!" -- good luck with it!

I just came out of an 09 wrx, and now am in a '10 STI, so I have some experience with 3G modding. I would recommend Invidia for the downpipe, it stays 3 inches all the way.

If you decide to keep a 2.5 inch cbe, there is a 25$ adaptor to prevent leaks on Fredbeansparts, they are a great vendor too btw.

I am not a fan of cbe personally, it doesn't add power, just noise, and it cost a ton. The power limiting factor in the exhaust is the dp, you will see when u take it off.

If you go catless, I would also recommend a protune, as there have been plenty of cases of boost creep with this. Since you have an AP already, Id recommend spending the extra 100$ and buy your dp catted.

Good luck and enjoy her
