Got you! I didn't know what's the average clutch life. Granted it all depends on how you drive it, right?

Thank you hanzda! I think I'm going to change the clutch myself first and go from there. If the issue still there, then I'll look into a tranny rebuild.

Quick question for you, do I need to replace the clutch slave cylinder as well?

Got you! I saw an Exedy Clutch OE + flywheel for $434 on ebay. That's the cheapest I could find with out going XTD, XTR, or any other ebay knock off brands for less than $200.

I had bad grinding going from 3rd to 4th when trying to shift fast. I put motul gear oil in and its been fixed since. I had tried Amsoil gear oil but I believe I had the wrong stuff. the normal Amsoil gear is GL4 where as severe gear is GL5.

i was quoted between 1500-2500 for rebuild depending on what you want done

I haven't read the thread and I am not sure the reasoning for mixing it. I've only run 100% shockproof, but I have no doubt that other oils or blends recommended would help.

I mean, could the reason be that my clutch is wearing out and the clutch engagement point I was used to is now different?

If the grinding was in fact the issue, shouldn't it happen every time I change from 3rd to 4th?

Please forgive my ignorance and the many questions.
If the clutch is going bad it will slip. No need to replace the clutch unless it is slipping or you're adding more torque than what your current clutch can handle. You wont necessarily get the scraping noise every time unless it's really bad.

I'm having this problem now and aside from the synchro it could be the shift fork guides going as well.

Wow! I'll check the oil I used again to make sure but I don't recall seeing GL4 or GL5 lettering in there.

I heard about redline shockproof, expensive stuff. Is there a special weight you get or is there just one type?

There is no slipping. I tried to recreate the grinding noise and found out that it only happen at high RPM. Under normal driving conditions, there is no grinding. Does that sound about right?
