Default Mods that you regret

there was a thread from a previous forum that i frequent and I always thought this was a pretty good thread.

i'm sure in your ownership there has been at least one mod that if you could do it all over again you would not re-purchase so lets hear it.

rules:

- must be gr specific (poor example, "my test pipe from my honda civic")
- one or two sentences about why said mod was regrettable (poor example "tail light cut outs. /post")
- no bashing others peoples post, what you may like others may not so let it be and move on.

my post

my cobb air intake + box

regrettable bc cobb has not released AP for 2013 yet so right now it's just sitting in my room staring me down.

I'll second the Cobb SF. Though I do enjoy it, I wish it drew cold air. Had it to do again, I would go AEM.

It's always greener on the other side. I had the aem but switched to the sf airbox because I felt like I had no low end torque. Sf shortram solved that feeling. Although it could have been a placebo effect

I had the Cobb too and liked how it sounded when I drove hard but it had a constant noise at partial throttle driving on the highway that was too much for me. I wonder if the AEM has the problem too.

Most will because they remove the silencing effect of the stock airbox. But hey, it's a turbo.

My old school AEM V1 intake from 2002 in my WRX had that noise. Drove me bonkers. Can't comment on the current line up for your car.

In my WRX I've had:
-Stock airbox
-Stock airbox sans silencer
-AEM V1 SRI
-APS 65mm CAI
-APS 70mm CAI
-Perrin BigMAF

Only the AEM ever made that noise.

Yeah I think it's normal with any SRI. I am thinking maybe the AEM cold air one that goes into the fender will be quieter.

You'll still hear the turbo spool and get the woshing should. I don't have my STI anymore but funny enough because I live in New England if I had to do it over again I would probably go with the Cobb intake with box. I have my AEM intake for sale if someone wants to make an offer (not meaning to thread jack btw).

Yeah turbo spool and the wooshing noise is fine and nice to hear!

It's hard to describe but it's almost like a high pitched noise at partial throttle that isn't noticeable at all in normal city driving or hard driving when I had the Cobb intake with airbox.
