Yep there's reasons why they have na manifolds on the na motors and the turbo manifolds on the turbo motors.

I agree that I wish the plenum was slightly smaller on the na manifold but you also have to look at how the turbo manifolds on the wrx have minimal plenum and smaller runners mostly due to the fact subarus use TMIC. I wish they were FMIC from the factory because I'm sure we would have a killer stock intake manifold that was a happy medium of the two stock options we have available.

Since I'm a 36 year old father my car is solely a street car for my driving pleasure so I'm trying to make it a fun reliable daily driver that is built first for reliability then secondly for performance. That's why I decided to go with the na manifold since I like how it flows more equally per cylinder and believe it will make for a more reliable tune (flow could be a different story under boost). Unfortunately I won't be flipping the manifold to shorten the FMIC pipes due to the fact I'm keeping my ac (back to the daily driver concept) but I will be running 19 mm phenolic spacers, deleting the coolant going to thru the throttle body, relocating coolant expansion tank and ceramic coating the manifold so I'm pretty sure heat soak of the intake manifold won't be bad and will be better then before.

Since there's so little info on these manifolds being installed on cars around the 400 HP mark I figured I'd give it a shot and see how it works out. If it doesn't work I will sale the manifold and components then just put the stock sti manifold back on but ported of course.

I will make sure to give honest feed back on how I think this manifold worked for my build and power goals to help inform the community if this is a good or bad upgrade for the 400 whp mark.

Before and after pics of the heads PS I'd recommend Dave from HeadGames any day he took the time to talk to me several times about my goals for a daily driver and did phenomenal work on my heads.

Thanks like I said I was very impressed with the amount of time Dave took to personally talk to me (about 3 phone calls) and with the quality of his shops work.

Here's a couple more hours of work put in to shaving the extra tabs and EGR off of the intake manifold. I still have to decide how many extra mounting areas I want to keep and if I want to remove the extra vacuum ports. I'm really considering installing a vacuum manifold block and deleting all but the power brake booster vacuum port.

Just a small update on the intake manifold after a few more hours of grinding and shaving.

The weather finally let up and I was able to put some more hours in to shaving the manifold. It looks like I'll just hit the rough areas with a sanding disk and drum then have the holes welded up so I can cerakote coat the intake manifold.

Before pic.

Finally going to try to get my build finished. I think I'm happy with the manifold shaving and I port matched the phenolic intake manifold to the plhenolic spacers. I also cleaned up the imperfections inside of the runners but didn't take much from them. Time to weld the holes sgut and send off to get coated.
