So, we had few MAJOR upgrades lined up based on our data from 2018.

We were hoping to be testing mid march and do Vic TA prepared and ready. Well, it is not working out as planned.

Delays on every single upgrade, meaning Vic time attack on an old tired engine, a tired gearbox. However, this package was very fast in WTAC so we will race and will look good trying. ;-)

Ok update. I mean UPDATE.

Vic TA today, nations second biggest TA event.

We had fun, we kicked ass and we looked good doing it!

I had wowed that I beat that "special" team in WTAC and did exactly that.

P1.

More details tomorrow as I am dead but I was a worthy Subaru representative today.

In the lead up to Vic TA, we had to replace a damaged drive shaft, brake booster and some damage that rear wing had caused to the body.

The car literally finished hours before transport.

First and second session, low boost. Really struggled. Could not feel the limits of the car, long standing issues downshifting from 5 to 4th, brakes locking up and struggling with turn 4.

Afternoon was going to be quite warm so I knew only one more real session. And the fact that I wanted to win added more pressure. High boost run. Messed it up locking up before turn 4. Second attempt miss shifted. SMH. Third attempt red flagged. I was so annoyed with myself, losing the best of the tires. Fourth attempt, actually tried to be more deliberate and slower, hitting all apices.

Long straight 6th gear on the limiter, brake hard at 110m and turn in in 6th gear. Hoping it sticks...awd pulled me out. Still locked up for turn 4...AGAIN and missed the apex for the tenth time that day. But a clean exit at turn 5, I knew it is almost there. Just T9 and T10 to worry about as I am strong in T11 and T12. T12 on top of 5th gear and 1.40.8!

Fastest of street plus open/modified combined and I believe 4th or 5th overall.

Knowing I had enough, I stayed out of the hot afternoon sessions. In the shoot out miss shifted AGAIN and only got a 1.43.

Getting the P1 was awesome. It also was a statement.

Thank you:
VIC Timeattack such a well run, friendly and nice event.

My family and in particular my niece and her model friend supporting me.

GIR, car ran perfect. Almost too much power. On my high boost run I found myself wide eyed, a dry and very open mouth (WRC style-should not have laughed at them-karma).

First session, Elusive racing DC2 came out of pits, immediately swerving side to side, covering majority of track width while I had started my first hot lap. At 260km/h, I just saw him. Split second decision, he wasnt using the very inside 2m of track so I went for it '(should have braked in retrospect) but the guy started to shut the door very very quickly. I clearly remember I thought we are going to connect. Cleared him by like 25cm.

Rookie mistake by their pro driver. You DO NOT swerve in front of pits and you CHECK them damn mirrors.

Lucky nothing bad happened but that is a lesson for all of us.

In 2019 the only major event that I see myself in is WTAC or AUS TA and maybe even Subinats. The rest will be some test runs in the local track, Sandown.

I have expressed interest in WTAC 2019 (they have changed the V-mount rules for TMIC cars).

We took the win but I have work to do:

I was not as consistent as I wanted. Issues with gear change (we have a solution), Locking up. And I was not very clean technique wise.

Will post more vids and photos over next week.
