This last Sunday was the final SCCA points event and sterling moss runoff for my region. No video for this one cause I forgot my gopro, so just boring text for now The sterling moss runoff is a pretty cool event that really tests a driver's consistency. It runs like a normal event, but the Moss competitors are trying to match all of their afternoon runs to their quickest morning run. To compete in the Moss, you must be in the top ten PAX for the season or be a class champion for the season. At the beginning of the event I was neither, but I knew I was close behind the current class leader.

The first three runs of the day were considered the final points event, so I still had a shot at taking the class. The guy who was ahead of me in points was registered for the event but when we went to grid, he wasn't there. It was just me and fellow iwsti'er, mickle, in SM for the day. I was basically gauranteed 6 points. My fastest run for the morning was a 68.7. With a possibility of winning the class for the season and competing in the Moss, my goal for the afternoon was to match that time just for the hell of it. I really had no shot of placing well in the moss since my PAX time would be factored in. All three of my afternoon runs were 68's, but I coned every run away Of course I decide to become a cone killer at the worst time. I did end up winning street mod for the season though! Not really the way I want to win something, but I'll take it

On another note, I almost lost the STi tonight. On my way home from work some jackass absolutely BLEW through a stop sign going 50+ on a backroad, and missed me by maybe 20 feet. He was coming from the right, behind lots of trees and junk. The road I was on has no stop sign at this intersection, so I didn't even see him coming. I was angered to the point where I almost turned around and went after him, but that probably wouldn't have went well. If I had left work just a second earlier he would have t-boned me and definitely would have totalled both cars. I really wonder why I ride motorcycles on the street sometimes.

Congrats on the class win! Oh and let's not forget the "afternoon cone luncheon" OM NOM NOM.

Glad to hear you and the car are in one piece, that sounds pretty scary.

Congrats on the jacket (well, in a couple months)! Take it how/when you can. Especially since I don't know where I might land next season, and with these new parts going on, I shouldn't be slowing down any! ;-)

Edit: Oh and BTW, also glad you didn't die in a car wreck!

Things like that usually don't rattle me but I was in shock after seeing him go by. The other thing is that the road he was on comes from a country club and is essentially a dead end, meaning he knew there was a four way intersection at some point coming out of that place. I really don't think he just simply missed the sign. He probably spent all day golfing/drinking and left the place shmammered.

Nah, I meant it is looking more and more likely that there will be no good reason for me to stay in ASP next year. With Josh moving on there will be no other regulars. I was told about a person who may be building an ASP car for next year but he will be running in "Pro class" anyways so no help for competition. I think I will still continue building the car for ASP but maybe run in SM. I will be reserving final decision until the spring.
