Yeah, more like 25 according to Anorexic. Obviously I'd love to get rid of that weight, particularly given its location, but I just can't do it .

Got the CEL's from removing the air pump - removed in under 2 minutes with my CAN-OBD II reader .

that's true.

chalk it up to the few things you can't remove.

Power Steering, Engine, Trans, Rear Diff, ECU, AC

Is there a trick to getting the upper portion of the dash off? Essentially, the big piece of upper dash that spans from driver to passenger window?

In an effort to track down an annoying rattle behind my instrument cluster, I started removing the dash. I had the entire dash loose but it wouldn't pop out. It felt like it was bolted down behind the HVAC but I couldn't track any other bolts or clips. Maybe it just needed a hearty tug... but maybe not. Any insight?

^^^ Not sure as I've not done it yet, but I know you have to remove the a pillar covers and don't forget the sides of the dash. If there's something screwed in behind the HVAC I didn't identify it on my previous survey.

Sorry.

Whose Prodrive's are these?

I'll try to get a picture this weekend. Also will try my hand at setting the toe using the string method. Anyway, I'm diggin' the new look.

No drive yet but I'll go ahead and record the weight savings. The OEM BBS + the Bridgestone 070's repeatedly weighed at or averaged to 46 lbs. This is consistent with what Anorexic was getting and also with what Tire Rack gives as the weight on the tires, 27 lbs, and added to the 19 lb wheel it works out. I had weighed the Prodrives at 17 lbs apiece and TR lists the Conti's at 21 lbs each in the size I purchased and this is exactly equal to the weights I measured, 38 lbs for each combo. So -8 lbs per corner = 32 lbs lighter or a total of 380 lbs off the car. This ought to put the car in the neighborhood of 2970 lbs down from the OEM weight of 3351 lbs .

Wife found out about the wipers already . She thought it a little obsessive but suggested I go ahead and take out the back seat .

I already know what I'll be using when the time comes but I don't want to say yet . Besides, I'd removed the armrest a long time ago and left it open so I get most of the noise anyway. The rear wing squeaks alot...at least it did until I got those light Girodiscs on the rear.

Thanks on the wheels. I love 'em - totally different look. I am a little worried about the rears rubbing though. I might have to negatize the camber some and/or raise the car a little .

Well after a few drives I'm not getting any rubbing in the rear though they sure look like they could:

As for the pulling to the right that I PM'd Clap about (thanks for answering too), I swapped sides on the front tires this AM and that cured it. On reinspecting everything it all looks normal. Ideas on why swapping sides would work?

Yet another bad pic but this is the new setup:

Driving impression on the Continental ContiSport Contact 3's (a shorter name wouldn't hurt); the sidewalls are quite a bit softer than the brickwalled 070's and the ride quality is improved because of it, particularly at slower speeds. They are significantly quieter too. Gone is the low-med pitched tire roar, there is just a softer, higher-pitched tire noise now which is much more agreeable. Grip is good, probably not as high the 070's but they are brand new and grip will improve a bit with wear. Not that grip is bad, this is some sticky rubber that Audi and Porsche are fond of using as their OEM equipment, the latest Audi TT uses the same tires and pulls .92 G. Steering response is sharpened some at the front I think both because of tread design and the much lighter weight. Throttle reponse is also improved with the lighter tire/wheel combo .

Overall very happy with this wheel/tire combo .

Edit: let me add that I'm also really impressed with the McGard spline drive lugs. They seem top notch quality and I'm glad I got them over the much more expensive Project Kics I was going to get.
