Default Accessport: protune needed?

Just bought a 2019 STI. Invidia Q300 going on this weekend. Question... if I stick with Invidia for my downpipe, can I just get an Accessport and go stage 2? I had an 03 WRX and an 06 STI and did this and was fine. Mixed flavors of intakes, exhaust bits. Got the 06 protuned and the tuner actually said the Cobb OTS was almost perfect as it was. Just wondering if something has changed and a protune is required for anything past Stage 1 or Stage 2 with all Cobb bits.

Also, are these cars still having issues with the stock tunes? I know they were in 2015 or so. People recommended getting tuned no matter what.

Lastly, how does getting a tune handle the different modes? Just going from stock.. I think sport and sharp are almost undrivable. The throttle is WAY too touchy.... I keep it in "I" and it's much smoother. How do OTS maps and getting it protuned deal with the modes? I'd rather just have one setting that is perfect...

the OEM tune on my 2017 is much better than the OEM tune on my 2007.. I ran nearly two years before i finally bolted on a cobb dp and flashed stage 2. the 07 was not drivable on the stock tune.

i'm fairly certain you should be good with the invidia DP and catback with the cobb stage 2 OTS map. Though I'd advise either reading the map notes or giving cobb a quick call to confirm.

as far as i know, there is no cobb stage 2 OTS map thats support an intake. youll need a pro tune if you do more than a down pipe.

if s# is too touchy, learn how to feather your pedals.

The only thing to watch for is catless and overboosting with an OTS map. Feel free to shoot me some logs for review. Also the key thing that is COBB specific is the intake in regards to mapping.

The OTS maps fix the OE throttle problems. I mode will become wastegate spring pressure and S -> S# progressive more boost.

We have AccessPorts on the shelf and can help with a complementary e-tune with the purchase of an AccessPort.

Joshua, thanks for your reply. I don't even plan on an intake. (Unless they somehow started making more than 10hp &#x1f601. I just want a turboback tune. I don't need 3 modes.. just a smooth Max boost map... If you guys give a complementary etune.. that might be the route for me. Still going to be a while before that happens... How safe is the 2019 OEM tune? The horror stories of ring lands make me worried I need to get the Accessport ASAP...

I didn't have any issues with my 2006 stock tune.. but I went stage 2 pretty fast so who knows. I don't want an intake.. just turboback and tune.. as far as the S and S+.. I don't think it's a matter of a driver mod as you suggest. I can make it smooth.. it's just annoying having the gas pedal be that touchy...

i would not be concerned about ring lands and the stock tune.. unless driver error.
