I had an incident last week while driving some backroads going to the grocery store in my Subie.

Came around a bend in the road and there was some unadvertised roadwork that damaged my front right tire. I was lucky that was all it damaged. They must have been laying a new pipe across the road or something, but they had a 2 inch straight down drop on both sides across the width of the road and about 10 feet long. No signs up about construction, came around a corner (luckily I wasn't going faster) and it did not feel good. I pulled over and checked everything out and all looked ok.

I got home and got out a good flash light and took a look at my wheels/tires and my passenger front tire has a small puncture in it. It is keeping air, but I didn't want to chance it so I started to remove my Volks and put on the OEM wheels/tires.

As I was going to remove the wheel with the damaged tire, I found that I couldn't get the lug nuts off. Turns out a couple of the studs had the threading stripped off where I hit that bump so hard.

I called and reported the issue to the police department, but they don't seem to give a shit. I'm just glad my Volks weren't damaged and that nothing else seemed to be affected negatively.

Since I had to remove the rotor and caliper to replace the wheels studs, I took the time to install the Brembo drilled rotors I picked up last year and new Hawk brake pads. Also went ahead and installed the HKS Hipermax IV SP coilovers I picked up while I was in there.

Brakes were much easier than I expected. I have never done them before and they were simple. Coilover install was incredibly simple since I had been in there before when i installed the RCE yellow lowering springs. Throw in that quick jack and it was a pretty efficient weekend.

I didn't weight them, but the coilovers are so much lighter than the factory units.

I need to get it aligned. I haven't taken it into a shop yet.

Default Random Pictures!

I got everything squared away on the Volks and Pilot SuperSports so those are back on the car now. Now that I have those back on, I will try to find an alignment shop to get the suspension dialed in.

Took some random pictures today and figured everyone loves pictures:

Terrible quality of the pictures, but I weighted my factory Enkei wheels against the wider Volks today. OEM Enkeis came in at 49.5 on my scale, and my Volk ZE40s came in at 41.5. I don't know how accurate that scale is, but 8lbs per corner seems like a lot of weight savings to me...

Cleaned up the Volk wheels since I had them off of the car:

One thing about living out in the country is that you can't avoid the bugs:

And couldn't resist posting this beautiful sunset we had on Sunday night:

Hit 10k miles on the Subaru today. I've put on about 1500 miles on the 20g turbo, and so far so good!

My dad has been looking for a toy for years to mess around with and finally pulled the trigger on a C5 Corvette.

Holy crap man, just spent the last hour reading up on your full thread while having my morning coffee. I've got to say though, the face its a DGM STI build is what pulled me in... I can't wait to get '18 STI this August (hopefully they bump the ETA sooner)

I really like all the mods that you've done and reading through these build threads gives me idea where i'd hopefully like to go with mine eventually. However, this being my first Subaru i'd rather not play with fire modding the motor right off the bat. I'll just enjoy the ride.

Will definitely keep up with your build thread, Nice work!
