Cool White Fox - 2016 STI Limited

As far back as I can remember in the late 90's, I've always wanted my dream car to be the WRX STI. Everyone has told me that it's a modest dream car because of how relatively cheap it was, but I didn't care. That Blue and Gold made something inside me tingle. I knew I wanted a brand new one so I didn't have to deal with someone else's tuning nightmare and general lack of care. Knowing that they were expensive new for a young man, I bought myself a number of (non-Subaru) used cars with my last and longest one being a gold base model 2004 Nissan Sentra with zero options, just so I could be able to afford the STI for my next purchase. I've researched every article, watched every YouTube video, rubber necked every WRX/STI on the road/parking lot, gone to WRX car meets, saved up money, and ogled the STI for well over a decade waiting for the right time to buy. I'm at a point in my life where I've got a salaried job, a home, a profitable side business and I feel as though I deserve some luxury, especially after driving that Sentra with nothing in the way of luxury (or power), hell it didn't even have a tachometer on the standard transmission. The time has come for my dream to come true, and boy do I deserve it.

I almost pulled the trigger on the 2015 last year, but there were rumors(hopes) that more parts of the 2013 concept might show up on the 2016, so I held up. That change never happened and I've accepted that there isn't going to be any major exterior redesigns happening for a few years. My research has been going on for years and have seen it all, but I still checked daily to see if anything changed or if there was anything new to report. All the reviews on the 2015 seemed to blow away previous models. With minor tweaks to the 2016 with improvements to the audio system, it feels like the best version to get.

I've never driven in or even sat in a WRX, let alone an STI, but I knew I always wanted one. So the day of my test drive, it was surreal to sit in it and start it up, hearing that purr. Once I hit that road I wanted to take it above 4000 RPM's so badly, but with the sales guy on my side I was limited on what I could do. While driving through some construction with cars in front and behind me the construction flagger started yelling at me to slow down, even though I was going the same speed as everyone else. The salesperson told me to get used to it with this car. I've heard the rumors, but I thought people were joking or not taking into account they might of been driving like an A-hole. I also took the WRX for a spin, which made me realize how stiff that STI was, but it also tempered my love for the STI. The WRX was a quick ride and was nice, but it's no STI.

I've always wanted that Rally Blue with Gold Wheels with the wing, but with Subaru dropping that combination and my recent feeling is that after nearly two decades, that color might be overdone, so I'm debating other colors. I've talked to all my friends (and the ladies) and it was clear that everyone thought that White was the sexiest color, and after seeing it in person in the sun I'm thinking they are right, but right now that is the one single thing that is holding me up from placing the order.

I've talked to all the dealerships in the area, done the test drive, dealt with the bank, and have narrowed my decision and honed in the price. I'm just sleeping on the color before I pull the trigger and place the order from the factory for the 2016 WRX STI Limited in White. In either case, I've been quoted 8-14 weeks (Turns out it was more like 7 months), which is a huge margin for a delivery.

2016 Subaru WRX STI Limited (Crystal White Pearl):
Perimeter Shock Alarm
Vortex Generator
110V Power Outlet
Auto Dimming Mirror/Compass/Homelink
Center Armrest Extension

STI Short Throw Shifter/Bushing

Some of the exterior modifications I plan on making primarily have to do with Varis and their carbon fiber trim package. I think itís slick with alot of thought put into it. As far as the engine bay goes, most of the items I'm looking at are from Perrin. Iím leaving things out and changing my mind just about every day so things are subject to change at a moments notice. Of course this whole car will evolve with time.

Congratulations! I'm getting ready to place an order and think I'm going to go with white also (considering WR blue but have been flip flopping).

I have been saving up for a Porsche Boxster and my neighbor told me about the STI. I test drove a '16 and immediately fell in love with it. So much more practical with AWD and back seats. I also recently found this forum and have been browsing for the past few days, seems like a great site.

Nice! I have almost the exact same car (wingless) on the way to me. I was told a delivery of 9/14/15. It was a tough choice between the blue and white. I saw a white in person at a local dealership an was impressed with the color. It has a ton of metal flake in the paint.

I had the same tough choice between the CWP and WRB, and ultimately the sales person sold me on the CWP. He didn't have anything on the lot to show me, but everyone has been loving the CWP finish so I ordered it blindly. After I ordered I found out that they actually use a 3-coat process instead of a 2-coat simulated pearl finish, which results in a much better finish. This is part of the reason why I'm so anxious to get it. The brochure isn't exactly an exactly representation of the final finish.

I picked up a used unmarried 3 month old V3 Accessport with the screen protector still on it for $500 shipped. I could not pass up that deal and snatched it right up. I wasn't planning on modding but what the hell, it's just a warranty right!?!?

I've been stocking up like a mad man on cleaning, clay bars, soap, foamer, wax, glaze, etc that someone can get for car. I psyched to apply the White Light with the White Wax both from Chemical Guys.

Just this morning I ordered a few things from SubieSpeed.com so I can make some quick modifications when it finally arrives. I ordered the front license plate plugs in painted to match CWP to fill the license plate screw holes from the factory. I grabbed the front side side marker 'dark smoke' tint to block out that orange in the corner of the lights. I also got the LED front turn signals to get rid of that "egg yolk" look. The most expensive item was the RallyArmor UR Mud Flaps in Black with Red Lettering. The new white ones didn't seem to match too well to CWP, and black looks good with everything.

I few weeks ago I e-mailed a question over to Custom Carbon Fiber and Vinyl about their ordering page on the custom STI carbon fiber front fender badges. They responded by sending me a cut off of the vinyl they had for reds so I could confirm a color match to the STI badge. That was really great service if you ask me and wanted to mention that. I finally found an STI on a lot that was already marked sold to DirtFish. It was a wingless Pure Red, and just washed because they were taking delivery soon so it was sparkling. Beautiful. I've got photos if anyone wants to see it before they get it dirty and all scratched up at the DirtFish Rally School a few miles from my house.

Anyways, I ordered the carbon fiber STI badges today, but they're going to take a long time to make so I'll post pictures once they are installed later down the line. Looking forward to getting rid of those OEM fender badges.
