Default blown head within 24 hrs of owning the car.

Alright guys, im soleyl looking for an answer not criticism. here it goes. purchased a 09 sti 2 weeks ago had it for 24 hours. the car was over boosted and hit fuel cut, through a p0244 at me so i drove cautiously to auto zone got it checked out and read wastegate solenoid blah blah. woke up the next day and it was off...thought nothing of it. left the house for work was going up hill (running late) and opened up a bit from 3 to 4th and it did it again. CEL came back on, went outside for lunch to start it and a plume of white smoke came out. (AHHH SHIT) so i called the dealership and told them what was going on. they said bring it in. 30 day warranty should cover it. they did a leak down all lead to intake valve. so they said ok blown ringland ordered the part and was fixing it. Come the day to fire it back up no turn over. so they took it back apart and looked again and now they said it needs a whole new head. they said the only way it couldve happened was either i was hauling ass or over reved and didnt shift in time. point is, it over boosted. spke with the owner he said he was going to fix it but would like for me to pay for the head. i didnt argue with him and agreed to help him out with it. SO my question is why is it over boosting and what REALLY causes a head to blow. keep in mind i did take this car to a mechanic before i bought it and everything checked out so i didnt just go head first into this car. its getting fixed tomorrow i dont want this to happen again. im starting to think either A. i blew it by hauling ass to work. or B. the tune from the previous owner had it running lean.

damn man that's quite unfortunate. I'm assuming you bought it from a private seller? By any chance, when you checked it out with the mechanic, was a leak-down and compression test performed? That info would probably help the wiser members narrow down possible causes for failure.

Well the CEL and you said it was over boosting.. I would test the BCS to make sure its working. That right there is the problem. Adding to that you kept doing it and it made it worse. I'm sorry for to hear that though.

Mods on the car? Stock? Do you know what tune it has and who tuned it? More info would be helpful. If it is indeed stock, I would start with the BCS.

No it cannot. Sorry to hear about your loss, perhaps the head was damaged when the mechanic tried to start it up after the ringland fix, and had the timing belt off a bunch of teeth...just a thought. I was look towards the BCS system.

Another reason why you don't just ignore CEL's, and continue to rip on the engine....

Not directly when the head blew, but they can tell that you've been ragging on it by DTC data.

How it is tuned?

Sounds like a stage 2 setup without a tune? I don't know what mods you have tune or what tune it's running on.

Very sorry to hear that. My friend is a tech at Subaru and the leak down is a must. Without it you it's just a hit or a miss, it can go in 6 months or in 1 day. If it was that bad it would have showed up in the leak down, the previous owner might have driven the shit out of it.
