If you baby it, at least 200,000 + miles.. I've seen them at 400,000 + and I actually think someone started a forum for this.

 

Uhhh.... I wouldn't say atleast 200,000. Maybe atleast 150,000. The hard part is most people drive their STI's how they are ment to be driven.

 

Many things factor into this. Depends on mods, driving habits, tune, etc. This is like asking how long you will live. Do routine maintenance and hope for the best.

 

Thanks guys... I'm looking to find an 05 with as low mileage as possible to acquire for a daily driver, and wanted to be sure it would last me a while since it would be a DD.

Stock 04-06, 150-200k if you aren't stupid. Stock 07-08, 20k-50k.

At least it still falls under the warranty. Id rather it at 50k than at 80k. :lol:

 

I think that around 200,000 miles is almost expected these days. Except the newer STi engines with their much maligned tune. Heck even my fiance's sunfire has 170,000 on it. But that is usually the way it goes, you want something to die and lives forever.

I believe that if you take care of the engine and dont run it full throttle all of the time it should give you plenty of good miles.

Not quite as many miles, only 95k, and this is my experience. Although, i always try to prepare for the worst.

 

113,000 here. Had it rebuilt at 98,000 because I got some bad knock and cracked two pistons.

 

so the newer sti's wont last as long??

 

That's seems to be the concensus. Subaru changed the tune up on the newer cars because of emmisions and some were popping engines on the stock tune. They have factory reflashes for the newer cars though which should fix the problem.......should.

 

From MY07 on there has been a increase in engine failures as opposed to previous years.

 

Consider possible oiling problems at the bearings (due to tight main/rod clearances) if running >4500 RPM for sustained periods. This probably won't occur on the street at legal speeds , but can occur at track events.

I am pretty sure they refixed the tune issue's in the 09 + ones.. I coudl be wrong though.

I have an 04 with 87K and the issues I have had are as follow..... clutch slipped and needed new rear struts and strut mounts. That is it besides maintenence. I am stage I, with an intake (and have been for 25K+)
