Chris,
I received my 2.25" black STi shpere on Monday. The large size felt a little strange at first but now I love it! Not for small hands though. Excellent workmanship and appearance. I think it exceeded my already high expectations. Thanks very much!

A couple people had the initial impression of the large size being too big, but then really warmed up to it. Seems like the big ones are a hit for the big hands

I'm not sure if it was mentioned here, but the standard size billiard ball is 2.25" in diameter. that's a touch too big for me, but it may help others with a frame of reference.

I think yours was the one packed with the scrap copolymer strings
Yours was the only one I packaged like that, but the material is too squishy to prevent the knob from sliding around in the box. I still use brown paper for the rest.

I read through this thread, and it is simply the coolest thing. When I get my 07, I will definately be pming you. Have you ever considered engraving the production#, I read earlier that you didnt have the tools, and it is a little late after the twenty or so, but that would be kind of cool....exclusivity FTW!....P.S very impressed by the fact that you do EVERYTHING yourself

Got mine today. Looks and feels great. Only thing is that it's so smooth heh. First couple of quick shifts, my hand slid off. I will probably get used to the smoothness of it.

But later on, if I still feel that it's too smooth, what would you suggest I do to "rough" it up a little?

Thanks! Feel free to PM me anytime.

Draklen, usually the grooving options helps add some points of increased friction to limit the slip. Strangely enough, Ive used a Copolymer knob on my WRX for the past several months and have never had that problem. I even use it for AutoX and HPDEs with and without driving gloves and have NEVER missed a shift due to the hand slipping away from the shifter.
Give it a couple days, Im sure youll get the hang of it.

It's probably that I am used to the stock shift knob and when I shift, my hand sits pretty much on top of the knob. So using the copolymer knob my hand just slides right off.

Anyway, I don't doubt I'd get used to it but I was just wondering what would be a good way to get a little more texture on the copolymer.

Just do NOT try to rough it up on your own (with sandpaper or anything). It will never look right if you do that to the plastic. Trust me, Ive tried. Thats why I have settled on using grooving on the plastics.
